''Expansive Heart'' is the debut EP and only release of California punk band Big Rig. It was released July 12, 1994 on Lookout! Records. In 2020, Oakland, California record label 1-2-3-4 Go! Big Rig were a punk band formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1993. Singer/songwriter Jesse Michaels fronted the group after the breakup of his previous band, Operation Ivy. Big Rig played only one show during their brief existence as a band. The band's sole release is the EP ''Expansive Heart'', released in 1994 on Lookout Records. Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Jesse Michaels (born 1969) is an American songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, artist, and author from Berkeley, California. His lyrics deal with politics, racism, and general social issues. He is most well known as the vocalist for the ska punk band Operation Ivy (1987–1989), as well as Classics of Love (2009–approx. 2012). He is the son of the author Leonard Michaels, and was married to producer Audrey Marrs. Early life Jesse Michaels was born in 1969 and he grew up in Berkeley, California, his parents are professor Priscilla Older and professor and writer Leonard Michaels. In Berkeley he became involved with the local punk and hardcore music scene in the eighties. As a very young participant, he attended performances by many formative punk and hardcore bands. 1-2-3-4 Go! Records is an American independent record label and retail store that specializes in punk rock and indie rock. Physical and Digital Music is distributed by Revolver. The label was founded in August 2001 in Seattle with the release of the Spitting Teeth 7" "Legacy of Cruciality". In December 2003 the label moved to Oakland, California. In March 2008 the label opened a retail record store in the Temescal neighborhood of North Oakland. The store initially focused on punk rock, indie rock, garage rock, and related genres but has since expanded to cover a wide variety of new and used records. The store hosts live music performances and occasional art shows. Frank Portman of The Mr. T Experience and Green Day have performed there.
