Executive Council Of The Isle Of Man
The Executive Council is the former title of the Council of Ministers of the Isle of Man, Council of Ministers, the principal executive body of the Isle of Man Government. Its chairman was the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man, Lieutenant Governor until 1980, when he was replaced by a Chairman of the Executive Council, Chairman elected by Tynwald. The Chairman was renamed ''Chief Minister of the Isle of Man, Chief Minister'' in 1986, and the council was renamed ''Council of Ministers of the Isle of Man, Council of Ministers'' in 1990. Council Of Ministers Of The Isle Of Man
The Council of Ministers ( gv, Coonseil ny Shirveishee; often abbreviated informally to "CoMin") is the principal executive organ of the Isle of Man Government. Its role is similar to, though not identical with, that of the Cabinet in the United Kingdom. Until 1990, its title was the Executive Council. The Executive Council, chaired by the Lieutenant Governor and including members of Tynwald, was established in 1949, and gradually thereafter became the effective government of the Island. Second Deemster
A Deemster ( gv, briw) is a judge in the Isle of Man. The High Court of Justice of the Isle of Man is presided over by a deemster or, in the case of the appeal division of that court, a deemster and the Judge of Appeal. The deemsters also promulgate the Laws on Tynwald Day by reading out brief summaries of them in English and Manx. In the past, the First and Second Deemsters had ex officio seats in the Legislative Council of the Isle of Man. The Second Deemster was removed from the council in 1965 and the First Deemster in 1975. There are currently (2017) three full-time Deemsters. These are the First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls (who is also the Deputy Governor), the Second Deemster, and an additional full-time Deemster. Sir Henry Charles Kerruish Order of the British Empire, OBE Doctor of Laws, LLD Captain of the Parish, CP Legislative Council (Isle of Man), MLC (23 July 1917 – 2 August 2003) was a Manx people, Manx politician who was the first President of Tynwald and, as Speaker of the House of Keys from 1962 to 1990, was the longest-serving Speaker in any Parliament in the Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth. He was also the first Chairman of the Executive Council, the forerunner of the present Chief Minister of the Isle of Man, from 1961 to 1967. Ambrose Flux Dundas
Sir Ambrose Dundas Flux Dundas (14 April 1899 – 29 April 1973) was a British civil servant and colonial administrator in British India in what later became Pakistan. He was also Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 1952 to 1959. Career Flux Dundas was born in 1899, the son of Reverend Alfred William Flux Dundas. He was educated at the Harrow School, the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, and Christ Church, Oxford. He joined the Indian Civil Service in 1922 at the age of 23, and remained in the ICS until 1947, when the independence of Pakistan took place. He served as the last British governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (then called the North-West Frontier Province) of Pakistan from 1948 to 1949. The Department of Education, Sport and Culture (''Rheynn Ynsee Spoyrt as Cultoor'') is a department of the Isle of Man Government. The department was formerly the Department of Education and Children and was renamed as the Department of Education, Sport and Culture under Statutory Document No. 2017/0325 with effect from November 2017. John Allen Cowell Kennedy Nivison (22 March 1910 – 5 December 2003) was a Manx politician who served as President of the Legislative Council of the Isle of Man. He was first elected as an MHK for Middle in 1948 and became a Member of the Legislative Council in 1962. He continued as a Member of the Council until his retirement in 1988, having completed 40 years of service. He was elected as the first ever President of the Legislative Council between 1980 and 1988. He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 1979 New Year Honours. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Social Security, in which role he was instrumental in carrying forward the National Insurance Reciprocal Agreement, also on the Airports Board, and the Tourist Board. Sir John Bolton
Sir John Bolton (died 11 September 1980) was an accountant and Manx politician. He played a prominent role in the politics of Tynwald, serving both as a member of the Legislative Council and the House of Keys. From 1967 to 1977, he was the Island's Chairman of the Finance Board, effectively acting as the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the Isle. He was further qualified as a chartered accountant, and applied these skills in his capacity on the Finance Board. The Department of Health ( gv, Rheynn Slaynt) was a department of the Isle of Man Government. It was created on 1 April 2010, taking on the health services and public health functions of the former Department of Health and Social Security. On 1 August 2012 the Isle of Man's Mental Health Services were transferred from the Department of Social Care to the Department of Health, which also saw the creation of a post for a second Member for the Department with specific responsibility for Mental Health.
