Excision (musician)
Jeff Abel (born 29 April 1986), better known by his stage name Excision, is a Canadian producer and disc jockey. He is the founder of Rottun Recordings and Subsidia Records. Active since 2006, his first release, "Warning", was in 2007. He released an annual "Shambhala" mix album in the third quarter of each year until 2016. He started his own music festival (Lost Lands) the following year and releases annual mixes. He is known for his tours with immense sound systems and huge visual productions. Abel founded the record label Destroid Music. Upon its debut, Destroid released a full-length digital album titled ''The Invasion''. The majority of tracks on the album were produced by Excision, with collaborations with other artists such as Datsik, Downlink, Space Laces, Far Too Loud, Bassnectar and Ajapai. Keaton Prescott, known artistically as Sullivan King, is an American DJ and heavy metal musician. He has drawn attention from the music press for his unusual blending of EDM and electric guitar-centered heavy metal performance, "making his live shows one of the few places where kandi-coated ravers and metalheads mingle". Shambhala (music Festival)
Shambhala Music Festival is an annual electronic music festival in British Columbia, Canada. It is held during the last week of July at the Salmo River Ranch, a farm, in the West Kootenay mountains near Nelson, BC. The festival lasts 4 days and 3 nights and offers a mix of music and art in nature. History The festival began in 1998 and has grown to become the largest and one of the longest running electronic music events in Canada. Festival goers often stop for a meet and greet at the local Boston Pizza in Kamloops BC beforehand as it is on the way from the coast, and provides an excellent hitch hiking waypoint. A disc jockey, more commonly abbreviated as DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience. Slander (stylized as SLANDER) is an American DJ duo consisting of Derek Andersen and Scott Land based in Los Angeles. They are best known for their unique sound and subgenre "heaven trap". They attribute most of their success to their close friend Nathaniel Bates, who they say “single handedly gave them the inspiration and confidence to become full time DJ’s”. Early life Andersen and Land met at their fraternity, Kappa Sigma, in University of California, Irvine. They later went to and graduated from Icon Collective, a music production school together with Nghtmre. KJ Sawka
Kevin Joseph "KJ" Sawka is an American musician, record producer, and DJ. He plays drums in the bands Pendulum and Destroid. Career KJ Sawka started his musical career at the age of twelve. At age eighteen, he developed an interest in electronic music and started producing. Citing the drumming of Phil Collins as a major influence, Sawka uses a customized drumkit configured to enable greater improvisation, tailored to the type of music he is playing. In the studio, he favors electronic drum machines, while for live performances he primarily plays drums. In 2010 he became the drummer of Pendulum as the sole American member, appearing on their ''Immersion'' album. Joshua Steele (born 15 January 1989) better known by his stage name Flux Pavilion, is an English EDM producer, DJ, singer-songwriter and label owner who has been performing since 2008. Dirtyphonics is a French electronic music band from Paris, consisting of members Charly Barranger and Julien "PitchIn" Corrales. Their music style is based on dubstep, drum and bass, drumstep. In 2008, Dirtyphonics signed on Shimon's label AudioPorn Records and released their debut single, "French F**k" which reached number one on Beatport's charts. After releasing remixes on many labels, such as Virgin Records, Atlantic Records, Warner Bros. Records, Sony Records, Mau5trap, Cooking Vinyl, Ram, MTA, Ultra Records, they joined Dim Mak Records in 2012. Aaron Dontez Yates (born November 8, 1971), better known by his stage name Tech N9ne (pronounced "tech nine"), is an American rapper. In 1999, he and business partner Travis O'Guin founded the record label Strange Music. He has sold over two million albums and has had his music featured in film, television, and video games. In 2009, he won the Left Field Woodie award at the mtvU Woodie Awards. His stage name originated from the TEC-9 semi-automatic handgun, a name given to him by rapper Black Walt due to his fast-rhyming chopper style. Pegboard Nerds is a Scandinavian electronic music group, consisting of Norwegian DJ Alexander Odden and Danish DJ Michael Parsberg. The name Pegboard Nerds is an anagram of the duo's surnames, Odden and Parsberg. The duo first met in 2005 and formed the group in 2011. Lorin Gabriel Ashton, better known under his stage name Bassnectar (born February 16, 1978), is an American DJ and record producer. Biography Ashton grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Bellarmine College Preparatory. He initially identified with visual arts rather than music, creating movies with his dad's camera at the age of ten. When he was 16 years old, he played in a death metal band named Pale Existence, which contributed to his heavy style of music. Destroid
Destroid were a dubstep supergroup and live dubstep band consisting of Excision (production and midi-guitars), Downlink (production and midi-guitars), and Pendulum drummer KJ Sawka, with collaboration from Space Laces and Ajapai. The band released two singles and two albums on their independent label, Destroid Music. Destroid also performed live music shows. Destroid promoted their dubstep music with online videos, social media marketing, and online graphic novels and a web page called "The Elevated", using the tagline "elevate your existence". Timeline Destroid was formed after several years of Excision's North American tours, as well as collaborations with Downlink for nu-metal band Korn. Excision and Downlink began work on the initial music production for Destroid, and then enlisted Pendulum's KJ Sawka to round out the line up.
