Ex-Mutants
''Ex-Mutants'' was a comic book series created by writer David Lawrence and artist Ron Lim along with editor David Campiti in 1986. It was first published by Eternity Comics and then Pied Piper Comics' black-and-white imprint, Amazing Comics (contractual problems resulted in a move to the main Pied Piper Comics brand). A legal dispute followed, and after running out of money for the struggle, Lawence and Lim surrendered; the title returned to Eternity Comics and was later published in a revamped version by Malibu Comics (which Eternity had become an imprint of). Malibu created a shared universe called Shattered Earth with the characters. In 1992, Malibu comics rebooted the franchise with a new continuity. A video game for the Sega Genesis based on the rebooted version was released in 1992, being developed by Malibu Interactive and published by Sega of America, Inc. Protectors (comics)
''The Protectors'' was a 20-issue comic book series published by Malibu Comics from 1992 until 1994. Originally meant to be a six-issue series, response was positive enough that Malibu decided to make the series ongoing. The series was cancelled (along with the rest of the "Genesis" titles) so that, according to Malibu, they could focus more on the "Ultraverse" line. Many of the characters included in the series were taken from heroes created by Centaur Publications, and had fallen into the public domain and revamped by writer R.A. Jones. Some heroes were given new names, such as: Gravestone (formerly Fantom of the Fair, Fantom or Fantoman), Nightmask (Masked Marvel), Thresher (a.k.a. Shark), and Midnight Blue (formerly Blue Lady). Malibu Comics Entertainment, Inc. (also known as Malibu Graphics) was an American comic book publisher active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, best known for its Ultraverse line of superhero titles. Notable titles published by Malibu included '' The Men in Black'', ''Ultraforce'', and ''Night Man''. The company's headquarters was in Calabasas, California. Malibu was initially publisher of record for Image Comics from 1992 to 1993. The company's other imprints included Adventure, Aircel and Eternity. David Lawrence (writer)
David Lawrence is an American writer most notable for his work in comics. Early career in comics Lawrence began working professionally in the field in the mid-1980s with a number of super-hero and post-apocalyptic themes for Eternity, Amazing and Pied Piper Comics. His most successful series was ''Ex-Mutants'', which he co-created with artist Ron Lim. Ex-Mutants spawned several spin-off series, none of which achieved the same level of popularity. These included the '' New Humans'', '' Wild Knights'' and '' Solo Ex-Mutants''. He also wrote for several super-hero series at Innovation Comics, including ''Justice Machine'' and ''Hero Alliance''. He was co-creator of the series ''Lunatic Fringe''. Current Lawrence is currently the managing editor of Dabel Brothers Publishing. Eternity Comics was a California-based comic book publisher active from 1986 to 1994, first as an independent publisher, then as an imprint of Malibu Comics. Eternity published creator-owned comics of an offbeat, independent flavor, as well as some licensed properties. One of its most notable titles was ''Ex-Mutants''. Eternity was also notable for reprinting foreign titles, and introducing '' Cat Claw'', '' The Jackaroo'', and the '' Southern Squadron'' to the U.S. market. Pied Piper Comics
Pied Piper Comics was a short-lived American comic book publishing company that ran from 1986 to 1988. Most of the company's titles were picked up from other publishers, and then most later moved to David Campiti's Innovation Publishing. Pied Piper's black-and-white titles were published under its "Amazing Comics" imprint. Pied Piper's headquarters shifted frequently during its existence, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Wyoming, Michigan, and finally to Wheeling, West Virginia. Ronald Lim (born 1965) is an American comic book artist living in Sacramento, California. He is best known for his work for Marvel Comics on their various "cosmic" titles, most particularly the ''Silver Surfer'' (vol. 3) series. Biography Lim's interest in comics began as a child, when he read comics and drew his favorite heroes, including Batman and the Fantastic Four.Lin, Sam Chu. Dinosaurs For Hire
''Dinosaurs for Hire'' is an American comic book series created by Tom Mason in 1988. It was first published by Eternity Comics and ran nine issues until 1990 when it was cancelled. The title returned to publication in 1993 by Malibu Comics, which had purchased Eternity as an imprint. ''Dinosaurs For Hire'', along with ''Ex-Mutants'', was merged with the Protectors universe during Malibu's Genesis crossover before being cancelled a second time. Malibu was purchased by Marvel Comics in 1993, and no ''Dinosaurs for Hire'' comics have been published since. Within the Marvel Comics multiverse, the ''Dinosaurs for Hire'' reality is designated as Earth-88469. ''Dinosaurs for Hire'' originated as a black-and-white comic by Mason titled ''Elvis Undercover'', featuring Elvis Presley as a crime-fighter. Don Markstein's Toonopedia
Don Markstein's Toonopedia (subtitled A Vast Repository of Toonological Knowledge) is an online encyclopedia of print cartoons, comic strips and animation, initiated February 13, 2001. Donald D. Markstein, the sole writer and editor of Toonopedia, termed it "the world's first hypertext encyclopedia of toons" and stated, "The basic idea is to cover the entire spectrum of American cartoonery." Markstein began the project during 1999 with several earlier titles: he changed Don's Cartoon Encyberpedia (1999) to Don Markstein's Cartoonopedia (2000) after learning the word "Encyberpedia" had been trademarked. During 2001, he settled on his final title, noting, "Decided (after thinking about it for several weeks) to change the name of the site to Don Markstein's Toonopedia, rather than Cartoonopedia.
