Andrew Ewbank Burn (17 January 1864 – 28 November 1927) was an English clergyman in the Church of England, Dean of Salisbury from 1920 until his death in 1927. Born in Bareilly on 17 January 1864 and educated at Charterhouse and Trinity College, Cambridge, Andrew Burn was ordained into the priesthood in 1888. Inga-Stina Ewbank SBS (13 June 1932 – 7 June 2004) was a Swedish-born academic and educator in Great Britain, Munich, Hong Kong and the United States, as well as an author and translator. She is believed to have been to date the only holder of an English chair of English Literature to have spoken no English until the age of 19 (in her case, having spoken only Swedish until that time). Early life and education Born as Inga-Stina Ekeblad, she attended school in Gothenburg before winning a scholarship to Carleton College, Minnesota. After graduating she had a string of research appointments: at Sheffield University (MA), at Liverpool University (as William Noble Fellow) from 1955 to 1957, and at the Shakespeare Institute of Birmingham University from 1957 to 1960. John Ewbank (climber)
John Ewbank (1948 - 2 Dec 2013) was an English-born Australian rockclimbing, rockclimber. He was born in Yorkshire, England in 1948, but emigrated to Australia at the age of 15. He is best known for his development of the Climbing grades#Ewbank, Ewbank System, used in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa for Grade (climbing), grading climbs. Climbing Having learned to climb in his native country, he quickly became involved in the fledgling Australian rockclimbing scene and went on to pioneer hundreds of new routes on crags around the country, particularly in the Blue Mountains National Park, Blue Mountains in his home state of New South Wales. John Ewbank (composer)
John Ewbank (born 6 December 1968) is a British-born Dutch composer, lyricist and record producer. He was born in Eastleigh, Hampshire; he and his family moved with the latter to the Netherlands when he was one year old. He wrote/produced a record number of twenty #1 Dutch Top 40 hit singles, of which fourteen were for Marco Borsato, for whom he has been producing and writing since 1994. They sold over four million albums together in the Benelux. Other artists Ewbank worked with include Ferry Corsten, Trijntje Oosterhuis, VanVelzen, Esmée Denters, Gordon, Paul de Leeuw, Rob de Nijs, Nikki Kerkhof, Hero, Maud Mulder, and Tim Immers. John Wilson Ewbank
John W. Ewbank (4 May 1799 – 28 November 1847), was an English-born landscape and marine painter largely operational from Scotland. Life Ewbank was born at Darlington on 4 May 1799, the son of Michael Ewbank, an innkeeper. He was adopted as a child by a wealthy uncle who lived at Wycliffe, on the banks of the River Tees, in the North Riding of Yorkshire. Intended for the Roman Catholic priesthood, he was sent to Ushaw College, from which he absconded. In 1813 Ewbank was apprenticed to Thomas Coulson, an ornamental painter in Newcastle. In around 1816 he moved with Coulson to Edinburgh, where he had some lessons with Alexander Nasmyth. He found work both as a painter and a teacher. He was nominated in 1830 one of the foundation members of the Royal Scottish Academy. Having become a success with history painting, he took to drink, and fell into poverty. Louis Blasdel Ewbank (September 5, 1864 – March 6, 1953) was an American lawyer, politician, judge, and jurist. He served as a justice of the Indiana Supreme Court from January 1, 1920 to January 3, 1927. He was considered by President Warren G. Harding as a potential nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court. Weeb Ewbank
Wilbur Charles "Weeb" Ewbank (May 6, 1907 – November 17, 1998) was an American professional football coach. He led the Baltimore Colts to consecutive NFL championships in 1958 and 1959 and the New York Jets to victory in Super Bowl III in January 1969. He is the only coach to win a championship in both the National Football League (NFL) and American Football League (AFL). Raised in Indiana, Ewbank attended Miami University in Ohio, where he was a multi-sport star who led his baseball, basketball, and football teams to state championships. He immediately began a coaching career after graduating, working at Ohio high schools between 1928 and 1943, when he entered the U.S. Navy during World War II.
