Ewan Aitken
Ewan Aitken (born in 1962, Paisley) is a minister of the Church of Scotland. In May 2014 he became the chief executive officer of the Edinburgh Cyrenians. Previously, he was the Secretary of the Church of Scotland's Church and Society Council between 2008 and 2014. He is a member of the Iona Community and the Christians on the Left. Education After attending Woodmill High School in Dunfermline, he studied Social Anthropology at the University of Sussex where he graduated BA (Hons) in 1985. In 1990, he graduated BD (Hons) with a degree in Divinity at the University of Edinburgh. Ministry In 1992 he was ordained as a minister of the Church of Scotland. He became assistant minister at South Leith Parish Church followed by a year as locum minister at St Andrew's Church in Gisborne, New Zealand. Paisley, Renfrewshire
Paisley ( ; sco, Paisley, gd, Pàislig ) is a large town situated in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. Located north of the Gleniffer Braes, the town borders the city of Glasgow to the east, and straddles the banks of the White Cart Water, a tributary of the River Clyde. Kenneth Wright MacAskill (born 28 April 1958) is a Scottish politician who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for East Lothian since 2019. He previously served as Cabinet Secretary for Justice from 2007 to 2014 and was a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) from 1999 to 2016. A former member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), he defected to the Alba Party in 2021, and serves as their depute leader. Edinburgh Eastern is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament ( Holyrood) covering part of the council area of Edinburgh. It elects one Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by the plurality (first past the post) method of election. The 2012 Scottish local elections were held on 3 May 2012 in all 32 local authorities. The Scottish National Party (SNP) overtook Labour to win the highest share of the vote, and retained and strengthened its position as the party with most councillors. Labour also made gains, while the Liberal Democrats experienced meltdown, losing over half their seats and falling behind the Conservatives.
