"Evil Woman", sometimes titled "Evil Woman (Don't Play Your Games with Me)", is a song by Minneapolis–St. Paul-based band Crow, on their 1969 album ''Crow Music''. It reached number 19 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 pop chart and number 65 in Australia. Chart performance Black Sabbath version The song was covered in 1969 by Black Sabbath and was released in England as the band's first-ever single. The song also appeared on the European version of the band's debut album, ''Black Sabbath'', though it was excluded from versions released in other markets and was replaced by its B-side, "Wicked World", on the American version of the album. The song was not officially released in North America until 2002, when it was included on the compilation album '' Symptom of the Universe: The Original Black Sabbath 1970–1978''. Crow (band)
Crow is an American blues rock band that was first active from 1967 to 1972. They are best known for the song " Evil Woman (Don't Play Your Games with Me)", which was notably covered by Black Sabbath (on their debut album) and Ike & Tina Turner. History Crow was formed in 1967 by singer David Wagner, guitarist Dick Wiegand, bassist Larry Wiegand, keyboardist Kink Middlemist, and drummer Harry Nehls under the name South 40, which was used until the group went national. Nehls was replaced by Denny Craswell at that time. Columbia Records brought them in to record a demo in 1969; they passed, and Crow was signed to Amaret Records. In 1969, Crow's debut album ''Crow Music'' was recorded. The single "Evil Woman (Don't Play Your Games With Me)" made the Top 40 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 that fall, peaking at No. 19 the following January. Inspirations (Saxon Album)
''Inspirations'' is the first cover album by the English heavy metal band Saxon, released on 19 March 2021 by Silver Lining Music. Consisting entirely of covers, it was recorded at Brockfield Hall and The Big Silver Barn in York, UK and produced by Biff Byford. Background ''Inspirations'' consists of covers of songs of various artists from the 1960s and 1970s that influenced Saxon over the years. Byford said ″We wanted to do an album based on our influences, the songs and bands that inspired us to write what we did and still do, and it was also interesting to see what my voice could do as I haven't sung many of these songs before.″ The songs are mostly from the hard rock, Psychedelic rock, Blues rock, and heavy metal genres. Jazz Sabbath
Jazz Sabbath is a fictional English jazz trio said to be from the late sixties. The band was created by Adam Wakeman, touring keyboard and guitar player for Black Sabbath (2004–2017) and Ozzy Osbourne band member (2004–present). Jazz Sabbath plays jazz renditions of Black Sabbath songs, claiming to be the original writers of those songs and accusing Black Sabbath of plagiarism. The band first appeared in a mockumentary on YouTube in February 2020. In this short film band leader Milton Keanes (Adam Wakeman) was interviewed by actor Robert Powell about the early days of Jazz Sabbath, their cancelled debut album and the alleged theft of their songs by Black Sabbath. ''Come Together'' is a studio album by Ike & Tina Turner and their backing vocalists the Ikettes, released on Liberty Records in April 1970. Content and release The album combines rock and soul elements. Following Ike & Tina Turner's tour with the Rolling Stones in November 1969, the duo began incorporating rock songs into their repertoire. Due to the receptive public response to their live performances, a studio version of the Beatles' "Come Together" was released on Minit Records in December 1969. It peaked at No. 57 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and No. 21 on the ''Billboard'' Soul Singles chart. Due to the success of the single, they were promoted to Minit's parent label, the more mainstream Liberty Records. Ike & Tina Turner were an American musical duo consisting of husband and wife Ike Turner and Tina Turner. From 1960 to 1976, they performed live as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, supported by Ike Turner's band the Kings of Rhythm and backing vocalists called the Ikettes. The Ike & Tina Turner Revue was regarded as "one of the most potent live acts on the R&B circuit."
