Evil Geniuses (EG) is an American esports organization based in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1999, the organization has fielded players in various fighting games, ''Call of Duty'', '' Counter-Strike: Global Offensive'', ''Dota 2'', ''Fortnite Battle Royale'', ''Halo,'' ''League of Legends'', ''StarCraft II'', ''Rocket League'', ''Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege'', and ''World of Warcraft''. In May 2019, EG was acquired by PEAK6 Investments LLC, a Chicago-based investment company. While independently owned at the time of the acquisition, it was formerly a subsidiary of GoodGame Agency, which in turn was owned by Amazon.com through its division Twitch. The Elysian Brewing Company is an American brewery, owned by AB InBev, that operates two pubs and a taproom in Seattle. History Elysian was founded in 1995 by Dave Buhler, Joe Bisacca, and Dick Cantwell. Cantwell had been a homebrewer who gained a reputation at the Duwamps Cafe, the Pike Place Brewery, and Big Time Brewing. Buhler is a former spirits wholesaler and Bisacca was a home brewer and a vice president at Seafirst Bank. The original location was opened in 1996 in the Capitol Hill neighborhood with a 20 barrel capacity. The company operated a brewpub at the local GameWorks arcade between 1997 and 2002. The International 2015 (TI5) was the fifth edition of The International, an annual ''Dota 2'' esports championship tournament, which took place at the KeyArena in Seattle. Hosted by Valve, the game's developer, the tournament began in May with the qualifier phase and ended after the main event in August. The tournament awarded one of the biggest prize pools in esports tournament history, at over 18 million, with the winning team, Evil Geniuses, being awarded over $6 million.
