Martin Šulík
Martin Šulík (born October 20, 1962, in Žilina) is a Slovak film director. He studied film directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava from which he graduated in 1986. His 2011 film ''Gypsy'' was selected as the Slovak entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist. Martin Sulik is also an avid painter and has had his artwork shown in Bratislava Galleries. Jakub Ursiny
Jacob is a common male given name and a less well-known surname. Slovakia has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1993. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Slovak submission is decided annually by the Slovak Film and Television Academy (''Slovenská filmová a televízna akadémia''). , twenty-four Slovak films have been submitted for consideration, none of which have been nominated for an Oscar. This is a list of submissions to the 66th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country.
