Everything Happens To Me (1938 Film)
''Everything Happens to Me'' is a 1938 British comedy film directed by Roy William Neill and starring Max Miller, Chili Bouchier and H. F. Maltby. It was made at Teddington Studios by the British subsidiary of Warner Brothers The film's sets were designed by the art directors Peter Proud and Michael Relph. Synopsis The film features Miller as a vacuum-cleaner salesman volunteering as an election agent to canvas on behalf of prospective candidate Arthur Gusty (Maltby). However, when he learns from nurse Sally Green (Bouchier) that Gusty is a crook who has been systematically siphoning off funds from the local orphanage into his own pocket, he withdraws his support and throws himself whole-heartedly behind the campaign of Gusty's honourable opponent Norman Prodder (Frederick Burtwell). Roy William Neill
Roy William Neill (4 September 1887 – 14 December 1946) was an Irish-born American film director best known for directing the last eleven of the fourteen Sherlock Holmes films starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, made between 1943 and 1946 and released by Universal Studios. Biography With his father as the captain, Roy William Neill was born on a ship off the coast of Ireland. His birth name was Roland de Gostrie. Neill began directing silent films in 1917 and went on to helm 111 films, 55 of them silent. Although most of Neill's films were low-budget B-movies, he was known for directing films with meticulously lit scenes with carefully layered shadows that would become the style of ''film noir'' in the late 1940s. Fred Godfrey (17 September 1880 – 22 February 1953) was the pen name of Llewellyn Williams, a World War I songwriter. He is best known for the songs "Take Me Back to Dear Old Blighty" (1916) and "Bless 'Em All" (1917), a 1940s hit recorded by George Formby that can be found on many war films. Early life Llewellyn Williams was born on 17 September 1880 in Swansea. He was one of the sons of Robert Williams, an auctioneer, and Maria Jane Knight, a sailor's daughter. They had married in 1864 in Caernarvon. On 1 July 1901 he married Bertha Lloyd. (One of her cousins was Collie Knox, a well-known Daily Mail journalist of the 1930s and 1940s. Allan Jeayes
Allan John Jeayes (19 January 1885 – 20 September 1963) was an English stage and film actor. Jeayes was born in London Borough of Barnet, Barnet, Hertfordshire, the son of Isaac Herbert Jeayes, archivist and Assistant Keeper of Manuscripts at the British Museum. Jeayes was educated at Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood, Merchant Taylor's School, and was originally a farmer, before making his stage debut in 1906. Jeayes made his film debut in the 1918 film ''Nelson'' as Sir William Hamilton (diplomat), William Hamilton. He appeared in a number of films by producer Alexander Korda. His last film appearance was in 1962's ''Reach for Glory''. He starred as Howard Joyce in the original 1927 Broadway production of ''The Letter (play), The Letter'' and played Sir Lawrence Wargarve in the 1943 London production of ''And Then There Were None (1943 play), And Then There Were None''.
