Evert Bancker (speaker)
Evert Bancker (May 29, 1721 – January 13, 1803) was an American merchant and politician who was Speaker of the New York State Assembly from 1779 to 1783. Life He was the son of Christoffel Bancker (b. October 27, 1695, son of Evert Bancker (mayor)) and Elizabeth Hooglant. In 1748, he married Elizabeth Boelen. Along with his cousin Gerard Bancker, he ran a mercantile business in New York City and from 1769 until the opening of the American Revolution furnished a large part of the supplies for the British troops. Much of the time they held the position of Barrack Masters for the city of New York. At the beginning of the Revolution, Evert was chosen to be one of the Committee of One Hundred. He was elected a deputy to the second, third and fourth New York Provincial Congresses, was one of a Special Committee of Twelve appointed by the Committee of Safety in 1776, was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1777 to 1783 and was its Speaker from August 1779 through March 178 ... John Hathorn
John Hathorn (January 9, 1749 – February 19, 1825) was an American politician and Continental Army officer from New York. Life He completed preparatory studies and became a surveyor and a school teacher. He moved to Warwick in the Province of New York, then a part of the precinct of Goshen and married Elizabeth Welling. He owned slaves. He was a captain in the local colonial militia, and became a colonel of the Fourth Orange County Regiment February 7, 1776, and served throughout the Revolutionary War. He served on the committee appointed to determine an effective location for the Hudson River Chain which prevented the British from advancing upriver, and himself wrote the report. He was one of the commanders of the Battle of Minisink. After the war, on September 26, 1786, Hathorn became a brigadier general of the Orange County militia, and on October 8, 1793, a major general of the state militia. Walter Livingston (November 27, 1740 – May 14, 1797) was an American merchant, lawyer and politician. Early life He was a son of Robert Livingston (1708–1790), 3rd Lord of Livingston Manor, and Maria Thong Livingston (1711–1765), a granddaughter of Governor Rip Van Dam. He was a nephew of Philip Livingston (1716–1778) and the grandson of Philip Livingston (1686–1749) and Catharina Van Brugh. He was the great-grandson of Robert Livingston the Elder (1654–1728), a New York colonial official, fur trader, and businessman who was granted a patent to 160,000 acres (650 km2/ 250 sq mi) along the Hudson River, and becoming the first lord of Livingston Manor. Evert Bancker (January 24, 1665 in Albany, New York – July 1734 in Guilderland, New York) was an American trader and politician who was Mayor of Albany from 1695 to 1696 and from 1707 to 1709. Early life He was the only surviving son of Gerrit Bancker (1635–1691), a pioneer fur trader, and Lysbet "Elizabeth" Van Epps (1630–1691), a trader's daughter with ties to the Mohawk Valley. His younger sister, Anna Bancker (1670–1740), married Johannes de Peyster, the Mayor of New York City. His father died in 1691, and he was named co-executor of the estate. Upon the death of his mother in 1693, he inherited a substantial family estate that included holdings in Albany and New York. He was among a number of Albany natives who maintained dual residency - being admitted to the "Freedom" of New York City in 1697.
