Mount Everest
Mount Everest (; Tibetan: ''Chomolungma'' ; ) is Earth's highest mountain above sea level, located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas. The China–Nepal border runs across its summit point. Its elevation (snow height) of was most recently established in 2020 by the Chinese and Nepali authorities. Mount Everest attracts many climbers, including highly experienced mountaineers. There are two main climbing routes, one approaching the summit from the southeast in Nepal (known as the "standard route") and the other from the north in Tibet. Josiah ( or ) or Yoshiyahu; la, Iosias was the 16th king of Judah (–609 BCE) who, according to the Hebrew Bible, instituted major religious reforms by removing official worship of gods other than Yahweh. Josiah is credited by most biblical scholars with having established or compiled important Hebrew scriptures during the "Deuteronomic reform" which probably occurred during his rule. Josiah became king of the Kingdom of Judah at the age of eight, after the assassination of his father, King Amon. Josiah reigned for 31 years, from 641/640 to 610/609 BCE. James Everest
James Kerse Everest (28 March 1918 – 28 September 1992) was a New Zealand cricketer. He played first-class cricket for Auckland and Northern Districts between 1954 and 1957. Early life and career Jim Everest was born in Hamilton and attended Hamilton Technical College. He was part of the first Waikato team to win the Hawke Cup. He scored 53 and 16 when they successfully challenged Manawatu in a close match in February 1938 and remained in the team that held the trophy until they lost to Manawatu in January 1940. In World War II he served as a private in the New Zealand 24th Battalion in the Mediterranean campaigns and was taken prisoner. He continued to play for Waikato after the war, captaining them when they regained the Hawke Cup for the first time since 1940 in the last match of the 1950–51 season. John Everest (born 20 July 1908) was an Irish former professional footballer. During his career, he made over 100 appearances in the Football League. Career After beginning his career with non-league sides Dunnington and Heslington, Everest turned professional with York City in 1926 before joining Stockport County in 1928, scoring seven goals in seven matches for the ''Hatters'' including four during a 7–1 victory over Carlisle United on 18 January 1930. Originally playing as a forward, he converted to playing as a defender in 1931 while playing for Blackpool. Everest joined Cardiff City in 1934 following a recommendation from George Blackburn, who had seen Everest play against his Cheltenham Town side in the FA Cup. Hiram Bond Everest (April 11, 1830 – March 5, 1913) was an American businessman, investor, inventor and farmer. Biography Hiram Bond Everest was born in Pike, New York on April 11, 1830. He moved to Wisconsin around age 18 to work as a teacher of science until 1853, when he moved to Rochester, New York. There he established a grocery business. He married Mercy Eleanor Everest on January 1, 1852, and they had four children. Later, with a business partner Matthew Ewing, the Vacuum Oil Company was incorporated in 1866, after obtaining a patent for a new method of distilling kerosene in a vacuum that produced a high-quality lubricant byproduct. It had been the company's intention to produce kerosene but they found a greater competitive advantage for their lubricants. Everest and the Vacuum Oil Company patented several inventions. Brigadier General Frank Kendall "Pete" Everest Jr. (August 9, 1920 – October 1, 2004) was a U.S. Air Force officer who is best remembered as an aeroengineer and test pilot during the 1950s. George Everest
Colonel Sir George Everest CB FRS FRAS FRGS (; 4 July 1790 – 1 December 1866) was a British surveyor and geographer who served as Surveyor General of India from 1830 to 1843. After receiving a military education in Marlow, Everest joined the East India Company and arrived in India at the age of 16. He was eventually made an assistant to William Lambton on the Great Trigonometric Survey, and replaced Lambton as superintendent of the survey in 1823. Everest was largely responsible for surveying the meridian arc from the southernmost point of India north to Nepal, a distance of about , a task that took from 1806 to 1841 to complete. He was made Surveyor General of India in 1830, retiring in 1843 and returning to England.
