Evangeliums-Rundfunk
ERF Medien e. V. is a German evangelical media corporation, based in Wetzlar, Hesse. The Corporation is producing Radio- and TV as well as online content with Christian-evangelical messages. The organization was founded in 1959 as Evangeliums-Rundfunk (ERF) (''gospel broadcast''). Theologically, ERF Medien is close to the Evangelical Alliance in Germany. ERF is partner of Trans World Radio. The funding is almost exclusively through donations from listeners, viewers, online users and friends with annual revenues of 17.3 million euros (as of 2018). In addition, there is an ERF Foundation since 2001,whose statutory purpose is to provide financial support to the broadcaster. Wetzlar
Wetzlar () is a city in the state of Hesse, Germany. It is the twelfth largest city in Hesse with currently 55,371 inhabitants at the beginning of 2019 (including second homes). As an important cultural, industrial and commercial center, the university town is one of the ten regional centers in the state of Hesse. A former free imperial city, it gained much of its fame as the seat of the Imperial Supreme Court (''Reichskammergericht'') of the Holy Roman Empire. The German Evangelical Alliance (german: Deutsche Evangelische Allianz) is a national evangelical alliance, member of the World Evangelical Alliance. History The German Evangelical Alliance (German: Deutsche Evangelische Allianz) has been active since 1851 in Germany. At present the German EA has members who are closely connected. They are connected to the EA-Organisation or welfare services, who are a part of the "Evangelische Allianz". Before 1990 in Germany there were two separate organisations, since the division of the country. In the GDR there was the "Evangelische Allianz in der DDR" and the "Deutsche Evangelische Allianz e. V." in the West, based in Stuttgart. In the course of reunification of Germany both organisations also merged. Trans World Radio (TWR) is a multinational evangelical Christian media distributor. The largest Christian media organization in the world, it uses mediumwave or high-powered AM and shortwave transmitters, local FM radio stations, cable, satellite, Internet, and mobile device technologies. Currently, their programs can be heard in 190 countries in more than 300 languages and dialects. TWR distributes programs for ministries such as Thru the Bible and Turning Point as well as their own programs. Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite (DVB-S) is the original DVB standard for Satellite Television and dates from 1995, in its first release, while development lasted from 1993 to 1997. The first commercial applications was by Star TV in Asia and Galaxy in Australia, enabling digitally broadcast, satellite-delivered Television to the public.DVB-S was the first DVB standard for satellite, defining the framing structure, channel coding and modulation for 11/12 GHz satellite services It is used via satellites serving every continent of the world. Astra 1M
Astra 1M is a geostationary communications satellite which is operated by SES. It is positioned in geostationary orbit at a longitude of 19.2° East, from where it is used to provide direct to home (DTH) broadcasting to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Satellite description Astra 1M was built by Astrium (now Airbus Defence and Space) under a contract signed in July 2005, and is based on the Eurostar 3000S satellite bus. It is equipped with thirty six transponders operating in the J-band of the NATO-defined spectrum, or the Ku-band of the older IEEE-defined spectrum. Digital Video Broadcasting - Cable (DVB-C) is the DVB European consortium standard for the broadcast transmission of digital television over cable. This system transmits an MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 family digital audio/digital video stream, using a QAM modulation with channel coding. The standard was first published by the ETSI in 1994, and subsequently became the most widely used transmission system for digital cable television in Europe, Asia and South America.
