Evangelion 1.0
is a 2007 Japanese Anime, animated science fiction action film, written and chiefly directed by Hideaki Anno. It is the first installment of the ''Rebuild of Evangelion'' tetralogy, based on the anime television series ''Neon Genesis Evangelion''. The story, which is set in the futuristic city of Tokyo-3 fifteen years after a planetary catastrophe known as the Second Impact, focuses on Shinji Ikari, a boy who is recruited by the special agency Nerv to pilot a giant mecha known as an Evangelion (mecha), Eva unit and fight, along with fellow pilot Rei Ayanami, against a mysterious species named List of Angels in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Angels. The film features the same cast of voice actors from the original series, including Megumi Ogata as Shinji Ikari, Megumi Hayashibara as Rei Ayanami, and Kotono Mitsuishi as Misato Katsuragi. Hideaki Anno
is a Japanese animator, filmmaker and actor. He is best known for creating the anime series ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' (1995)''.'' His style is defined by his postmodernist approach and the extensive portrayal of characters' thoughts and emotions, often through unconventional scenes presenting the mental deconstruction of those characters. The ''Evangelion'' franchise has had a significant influence on the anime television industry and Japanese popular culture, with many deeming Anno as one of the medium's first auteurs. Rei Ayanami
is a fictional character from the anime ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'', created by Gainax. She is the First Child and pilot of a giant mecha named Evangelion Unit 00. At the beginning of the series, Rei is an enigmatic figure whose unusual behavior astonishes her peers. As the series progresses, she becomes more involved with the people around her, particularly her classmate and fellow Eva pilot, Shinji Ikari. Rei appears in the franchise's animated feature films and related media, video games, the original net animation '' Petit Eva: Evangelion@School'', the ''Rebuild of Evangelion'' films, and the manga adaptation by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
