The Evangelical Free Church of Geneva in French the Église évangélique libre de Genève is a Reformed free church in Geneva. The church has 6 congregations in Onex, Versoix, Buix, Rive Droite, Carouge, l'Oratoire with a combined membership of 1,000. The church was founded in 1849, in a period of spiritual renewal begun in the early 19th century. This movement began in the Church of Geneva, resulting a dismissal of several pastors. In the 1940s the church intended to merge with the Reformed church in Geneva, but this did was decline. In 1978 a new parish in Onex was formed. In 1994 a sixth paris was formed in Versoix. Carouge
Carouge () is a municipality in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. History Carouge is first mentioned in the Early Middle Ages as ''Quadruvium'' and ''Quatruvio''. In 1248 it was mentioned as ''Carrogium'' while in the 14th Century it was known as ''Quarrouiz'' or ''Quarroggi''. In 1445 it was mentioned as ''Quaroggio''. The current city was built by Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia, King of Sardinia and Duke of Savoy, starting in 1760–70. It obtained the status of city in 1786. The Protestant Church of Geneva (EPG, french: link=no, Église protestante de Genève) is an organization of congregations in the Canton of Geneva. It was founded in 1536 during the Protestant Reformation. It was the state church of Geneva from its inception until 1907. It is a member of the Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches, and through that body a member of the World Council of Churches and the World Communion of Reformed Churches. As of 2003, the church had approximately 94,472 members, of which 15,095 were baptized.
