Evangelical Baptist Church (Laconia, New Hampshire)
The Cake Theater (formally known as Meredith Bridge Congregational Church, Laconia Congregational and, Evangleical Baptist Church) is a historic building on Veterans Square in Laconia, New Hampshire, United States. Built in 1836 and extensively restyled in 1871, it is a fine 19th-century building, illustrating adaptive alterations made over time to reflect changing uses and tastes. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Description and history The building stands on the east side of Veterans Square in central Laconia, adjacent to the current Congregational church, and across from the former train station. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboarded exterior. A square tower projects slightly from the front facade, rising to an octagonal spire. Laconia is a city in Belknap County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 16,871 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, up from 15,951 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. It is the county seat of Belknap County. Recycled Percussion
Recycled Percussion is a Laconia, New Hampshire-based band. The group was originally formed in Goffstown, New Hampshire. History Justin Spencer formed Recycled Percussion in 1995 for a high school talent show. Spencer, looking to be more creative than using traditional instruments, took the idea of playing buckets, which was introduced to him in the subways of New York City. Spencer then added more and more instruments to the show and expanded on the New York style of street percussion. Spencer specialized in using recycled materials to build instruments. The band started to take off in 1999 when they were featured on the cover of ''USA Today''. Recycled Percussion began touring the country in 2001. The group continued to tour for 10 years until they made their debut on season 4 of the television show ''America's Got Talent''. Lakeport, New Hampshire
Lakeport is a neighborhood in the city of Laconia in Belknap County, New Hampshire, in the United States. It was once known as "Lake Village" and is centered on a power dam on the short river channel between Paugus Bay (an arm of Lake Winnipesaukee) to the north, and Opechee Bay to the south. Lakeport lies approximately north of downtown Laconia. During the summer months the Lakeport train station is the southern destination of the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. Trains are boarded at Weirs Beach or Meredith to the north. Once a busy center for entertainment, the business area of Lakeport now consists of a couple of convenience stores, several restaurants, a large hotel on Opechee Bay, a small post office, and other small businesses. Laconia Passenger Station
The Laconia Passenger Station is a historic railroad station at 9-23 Veterans Square in downtown Laconia, New Hampshire. It was built in 1892 for the Boston and Maine (B&M) Railroad and is a prominent regional example of Richardsonian Romanesque style architecture. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The building now houses a variety of commercial businesses. Description and history The former Laconia Passenger Station is located on the north side of downtown Laconia, occupying an irregular block formed by North Main Street, Veterans Square, Pleasant Street, and New Salem Street. It is set at an angle to North Main Street, from which it is separated by the grassy area of Veterans Square, and faces roughly southeast.
