Evan Smith (journalist)
Evan Smith (born April 20, 1966) is an American journalist. He is the CEO of ''The Texas Tribune'' and host of the weekly interview program ''Overheard with Evan Smith''. Early life and education Born in New York, Smith has a bachelor's degree in public policy from Hamilton College and a master's degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University (which inducted him into its Hall of Achievement in April 2006). Career Since September 2010, he has hosted ''Overheard with Evan Smith'', a weekly interview program produced by KLRU that airs on PBS stations nationally. ''Texas Monthly'' Smith joined the staff of ''Texas Monthly'' as a senior editor in January 1992. In February 1993, he was promoted to deputy editor, and in July 2000, he was made editor. Evan Blake Smith (formerly Dietrich-Smith; born July 19, 1986) is a former American football center. He has played for the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As a member of the Packers, he won Super Bowl XLV against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played college football at Idaho State University. Early life Smith grew up in Salinas, California. He attended and played high school football at Salinas High School. He also attended Buena Vista Middle School. Professional career Green Bay Packers He was signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2009 but was waived in the last round of cuts after training camp in 2010. Malkauns (band)
Malkauns was a three-piece ambient-drone-electronic music-psychedelic rock band based in Nashville, Tennessee. They are composed of multi-instrumentalists Calvin Laporte, Dylan Simon and Evan Smith. Malkauns are characterized by their unusual instrumentation and eclectic pop arrangements. They make extensive use of reel-to-reel audio tape recording, and incorporate techniques of Musique concrète composers, which is not limited to tape splicing and re-sequencing, tape reverse, pitch/speed alteration etc. Their performances have more in common with ''avant garde'' happenings from the late 1950s and early 1960s than traditional rock concerts.Open Lot Archives
