Evan Jones is an Australian musician and photographer. Together with his brother Idris he wrote "The Pushbike Song "The Pushbike Song" is a song originally recorded by Australian band The Mixtures and released in 1970. Jones was in an Adelaide band called the Gingerbread Men before his career was interrupted by military service in Vietnam. Also in the band was Idris Jones, Tony McNicoll and Dean Birbeck. They released a single in the 60s, "Looking At You" / "Goodnight" (1965, W&G). Idris Jones was later a member of The Mixtures. The Jones brothers wrote their song "The Pushbike Song" which was released by the band in 1970. The song charted internationally and reached #1 in Australia. The Mixtures
The Mixtures were an Australian rock band that formed in Melbourne in 1965. Biography 1965–1976: The Mixtures Australian musicians Terry Dean and Rod De Clerk met in Tasmania in 1965. They then met Laurie Arthur, a member of the Strangers, and the three formed a band after a jam session. They signed to EMI that same year and released three singles. They went through several line-up changes over the following few years, then signed to CBS Records in 1969. A few further singles followed before transferring to Fable Records in 1970. The Mixtures recorded a cover of Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime" and—as a result of the 1970 radio ban, during which many Australian radio stations refused to play Australian and British music released by major labels—received much more airplay than had initially been expected for a group on a small record label. Graham Cornes
Graham Studley Cornes Order of Australia, OAM (born 31 March 1948 in Melbourne, Victoria) is a former Australian rules footballer and coach, as well as a media personality. From 1995 until early 2013, Cornes co-hosted a weekday drivetime sports program that he hosts on Adelaide radio station FiveAA, 5AA, first with K. G. Cunningham, Ken "KG" Cunningham and, following Cunningham's retirement in 2008, with Stephen Rowe (footballer), Stephen Rowe. In 2012 he was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame. Cornes is also a Vietnam veteran, having served as an infantry soldier with the 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, 7th Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment in 1968. Playing career Cornes was a champion with the Glenelg Football Club in the SANFL, between 1967 and 1982. He played mostly at Ruck Rover in the SANFL and centre half-forward. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations.
