Evan Edwards
Evan Jenkin Edwards (14 December 1898 – 1958) was a Welsh footballer who scored 28 goals from 194 appearances in the Football League playing at outside left for Merthyr Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Swansea Town, Northampton Town, Darlington and Clapton Orient in the 1920s. He was on the books of Halifax Town without representing them in the League, and also played for Southern League clubs Mid-Rhondda United and Ebbw Vale. Edwards played for Wales in an amateur international match against England Amateurs in 1920. Bedlinog
Bedlinog is a small village (and larger community) located in The Taff Bargoed valley (Cwm Bargoed), north of Pontypridd, north west of Caerphilly and south east of Merthyr Tydfil in south-east Wales. It is currently in the south of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough, but until 1974 was part of Gelligaer Urban District Council in the county of Glamorgan. Description It has a population of around 1,400 people. The combined population of Bedlinog and Trelewis has been recently recorded as approximately 3,140, increasing to 3,277 at the 2011 census. Name The meaning of the name is somewhat unclear, but the usual suggestion is that it means the 'house near (the stream) Llwynog'. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system.
