Eva Twedberg (earlier Eva Pettersson; later Eva Stuart) is a former Swedish badminton player who won women's singles at numerous international championships. Noted for her stamina and swift court coverage, her peak years were the late 1960s and the early 1970s. Ystad
Ystad (; older da, Ysted) is a town and the seat of Ystad Municipality, in Scania County, Sweden. Ystad had 18,350 inhabitants in 2010. Imre Rietveld is a retired Dutch-born Danish badminton player who won six French Open titles between 1963 and 1967. In 1967 she married Knud Aage Nielsen, a Danish badminton player. Judy Hashman
Judy Devlin (later Judy Hashman) (born 22 October 1935 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a former badminton player who won more major international titles than any other player of her era. Devlin began playing badminton with her Irish-born father Frank Devlin when she was seven in the Baltimore, Maryland region of the U.S.A. where her family had settled. Under her father's tutelage she developed a badminton game notable for its power, accuracy, and consistency. After dominating U.S. junior competition she won her first (adult) U.S. championship event, women's doubles, with her older sister Susan Devlin in 1953. This marked the beginning of the run of success listed below. She married Dick Hashman in 1960, living in England thereafter and eventually becoming a British citizen. Ulla Rasmussen
Ulla Strand (21 March 1943 - 7 August 2007) (born as Ulla Rasmussen) was badminton player of Denmark who excelled from the early 1960s to the early 1970s. Though she won three Danish national singles titles and reached the women's singles final at the All-England Championships in 1965, most of her major championship victories were in doubles (often with her sister Karin Jorgensen) and mixed doubles. Attractive and charismatic, she was a crowd favorite throughout her career. She was included in the Badminton Hall of Fame in 1999. Ulla Strand died in 2007 after a long illness. Pernille Mølgaard Hansen later Kaagaard is a former Danish badminton player. In 1964 she won both the National Championship and National Under-18 Championship and followed this up with five more National titles and 34 caps for Denmark from 1965-1977. German Open (badminton)
The German Open is an annual badminton tournament held in Germany since 1955 (as West Germany) and organized by German Badminton Association or Deutscher Badminton Verband (DBV). The tournaments were not held in the year 1970, 1979 and 1998. Known as German Badminton Championships until 1980, the tournament was later allowed to be known as Open Championships from 1981 on. The tournament is currently sponsored by Yonex. Wolfgang Bochow
Wolfgang Bochow (26 May 1944 – 14 September 2017) was a badminton player from West Germany who rated among the world's best in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Tall and powerful, he had one of the strongest backhands in the game. Career Bochow won the gold medal at the 1972 European Badminton Championships in men's singles. Between 1968 and 1976 he won eight other medals at this biennial event; three bronzes and a silver in mixed doubles, a silver and two bronzes in singles, and a bronze in men's doubles.
