Euthanasia Laws Act 1997
The ''Euthanasia Laws Act 1997'' (Cth) was an Act of the Parliament of Australia to amend the '' Northern Territory (Self-Government) Act 1978'', the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988 and the Norfolk Island Act 1979 to remove the power of the Parliament of each of those territories to legalise euthanasia. The law was enacted in response to the enactment of the Rights of the Terminally Ill Act 1995 (NT) by the Parliament of the Northern Territory which had legalised euthanasia in the Territory. The Act was repealed by the '' Restoring Territory Rights Act 2022'', which was passed by the federal parliament in December 2022. Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly
The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory (known in short as the ACT Legislative Assembly) is the unicameral legislature of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). It sits in the Legislative Assembly Building on Civic Square, close to the centre of the city of Canberra. Creation The Assembly was created by four acts of the Commonwealth Parliament in 1988, including the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988. Alan Cadman
Alan Glyndwr Cadman (born 26 July 1937) is an Australian politician who served as a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives from 18 May 1974 to 17 October 2007, representing the Division of Mitchell, New South Wales. Biography Cadman was born in Sydney and studied agriculture at the University of New South Wales. He was an orchardist and company director before entering politics. Russell Evan Broadbent (born 25 December 1950) is an Australian politician who is a Liberal Party member of the House of Representatives, representing the Division of Monash (previously McMillan). Born in Sydney, he was educated at the University of Sydney and then Sydney College of Advanced Education, becoming a teacher. Bronwyn Bishop
Bronwyn Kathleen Bishop (née Setright; born 19 October 1942) is an Australian former politician. She was a member of federal parliament for almost 30 years, the longest period of service by a woman.
