Euskal Bizikleta
Euskal Bizikleta (Spanish: ''Bicicleta Vasca'', English: ''Basque Bicycle'') was an annual road bicycle racing, road cycling stage race held in the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country in June. From 2005 to 2008, the race was organized as a 2.HC event on the UCI Europe Tour. In 2009, it was merged with the Tour of the Basque Country. The first race was held in 1952, but it has only been called Euskal Bizikleta since 1991. The first winner (1952) was Louis Caput from France. The first winner of the 'modern' Euskal Bizikleta (1991) was Gianni Bugno. The most recent edition (2008) was won by Eros Capecchi from Italy. The UCI Continental Circuits are a series of road bicycle racing competitions which were introduced in 2005 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to expand cycling around the world. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on Road surface, paved roads. Road racing is the most popular professional sport, professional form of bicycle racing, in terms of numbers of competitors, events and spectators. Tour Of The Basque Country
The Tour of the Basque Country (Officially: ''Itzulia Basque Country'', es, Vuelta al País Vasco, links=no, eu, Euskal Herriko Itzulia) is an annual road bicycle racing, road cycling stage race held in the Basque Country (autonomous community), Spanish Basque Country in April. It is one of the races that make up the UCI World Tour calendar. As the Basque Country is a mountainous area, there are few flat stages, and thus the event favors those who are strong climbing specialist, climbers. The race is characterized by its short stages, rarely exceeding 200 km, and steep ascents. While the ascents featured in the race aren't particularly high compared to other stage races, they are among the steepest seen in professional cycling, some having sections with Grade (slope), gradients reaching well above 20%. Louis Caput
Louis Caput (23 January 1921 - 1 January 1985) was a French professional racing cyclist and then team manager. He was born in Saint-Maur-des-Fosses, and won Paris–Tours in 1948, and two stages of the Tour de France. He was national champion in 1946. Career Caput rode as a professional from 1942 to 1957. René de Latour said: :Everybody liked Louis Caput, who became known to the crowds as ''P'tit Louis''. And not only was Caput a likeable rider, he was a clever one who knew his job perfectly and I don't think I have ever seen him make a serious mistake on the road. Whenever he got into a break, he was the boss, the ruler of it. Little Louis was a great general of the pelotons, shouting encouragement, picking the right length for the relays and giving orders to his companions of the breakaway. Gianni Bugno
Gianni Bugno (; born 14 February 1964) is a retired Italian professional road racing cyclist. Biography Bugno was a versatile rider, able to do well in different types of races. He won numerous stages in the Tour de France, and the Milan–San Remo classic in 1990. In 1991 he won the Clásica de San Sebastián, and in 1994 he won the Tour of Flanders. Bugno's greatest success was the double victory in the World Championship. In 1991 he beat Steven Rooks of the Netherlands and Miguel Indurain of Spain, and in 1992 finished ahead of Laurent Jalabert of France and Dmitri Konyshev of Russia. Bugno's performance in the Grand Tours, however, was over-shadowed by Miguel Indurain. Bugno's victory in the Giro d'Italia in 1990 is considered one of the most dominant performances in that race — he led from start to finish. Eros Capecchi
Eros Capecchi (born 13 June 1986) is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . He took four professional wins during his career, including a stage of the 2011 Giro d'Italia. Career Born in Castiglione del Lago, Capecchi turned professional with in 2005 before moving to in 2008. He returned to for the 2011 season. He took a notable victory at the Gran Premio di Lugano in 2012, dropping a dozen riders in the finale, and finished with a 4-second advantage over them. He left at the end of the 2012 season, and joined the on a two-year contract, from the 2013 season onwards. Capecchi signed for for the 2017 season. He joined in 2020. He retired from competition at the end of the 2021 season, after his contract was not extended.
