Eurowings
Eurowings GmbH is a German low-cost carrier headquartered in Düsseldorf and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group. Founded in 1996, it serves a network of domestic and European destinations and formerly also operated some long-haul routes and maintains bases at several airports throughout Germany and Austria as well as in Palma de Mallorca and Pristina. Eurowings Europe is a low-cost airline registered in Malta that is a subsidiary of Lufthansa and a sister company of the German Eurowings. History In January 2016, ch-aviation reported that Eurowings Europe expected to start operations in the middle of the year, operating routes throughout the continent from an initial base at Vienna. About a week after obtaining its air operator's certificate from the Austrian civil aviation authorities, Eurowings Europe departed Vienna for Alicante on 23 June 2016, its maiden flight. It has adopted the corporate identity of its German sister airline, Eurowings. Germanwings GmbH was a German low-cost airline wholly owned by Lufthansa which operated under the Eurowings brand. As of February 2021, German low-cost carrier Eurowings serves the following destinations throughout Africa, Asia and Europe. In October 2015, Eurowings began to serve several destinations formerly served by the Germanwings brand. Eurowings Discover is a German airline headquartered in Frankfurt. It is owned by the Lufthansa Group and serves leisure destinations around the Mediterranean, North America and the Caribbean from its bases at Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport. History Eurowings Discover started operations on 24 July 2021, flying from Frankfurt to Mombasa and Zanzibar with A330, having obtained its air operator's certificate.
