International E-road Network
The international E-road network is a numbering system for roads in Europe developed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The network is numbered from E1 up and its roads cross national borders. It also reaches Central Asian countries like Kyrgyzstan, since they are members of the UNECE. Main international traffic arteries in Europe are defined by ECE/TRANS/SC.1/2016/3/Rev.1 which consider three types of roads: motorways, limited access roads, and ordinary roads. In most countries, the roads carry the European route designation alongside national designations. Belgium, Norway and Sweden have roads which only have the European route designations (examples: E18 and E6). The United Kingdom, Iceland and Albania only use national road designations and do not show the European designations at all. Yeraskh
Yeraskh ( hy, Երասխ, formerly, Arazdayan) is a village in the Ararat Province of Armenia. Yeraskh is the closest Armenian village to the closed border with Azerbaijan. The settlement is adjacent to Heydarabad, Azerbaijan across the border, is beside European route E99 highway in Turkey, and is also near to the Iranian village of Qush. The train station in Yeraskh was previously connected with the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan, and used to be the main road and rail connections between Nakhchivan and Azerbaijan proper. The rail line also was the only direct connection between the former USSR and Iran. Because of the hostilities between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, the border is under severe blockade and no trains are allowed to pass. Agarak, Syunik
Agarak ( hy, Ագարակ) is a village in the Meghri Municipality of the Syunik Province in southern Armenia, founded in 1949. As of 2011, the population of Agarak was 4,429. The village is located on the left bank of river Araks River, 9 km southwest of Meghri on the Armenia–Iran border. The border crossing at Agarak is Armenia's sole border crossing with Iran, with the Iranian village of Nurduz being located at the other side of the border. The village had a railway station on the demolished and non-functioning branch of the Yerevan- Nakhchivan- Horadiz railway. Nrnadzor ( hy, Նռնաձոր) is a village in the Meghri Municipality of the Syunik Province in Armenia, on the bank of the Aras River. History The village of Nrnadzor (meaning "pomegranate canyon" in Armenian, also the name of a nearby tributary of the Aras) was previously called Nyuvadi (; ). During the Russian Empire, the village was a part of the Zangezur uezd of the Elizavetpol Governorate. The village was transferred from the Azerbaijan SSR to the Armenian SSR in 1928. The Azerbaijani-speaking population of the village fled in the summer of 1991 in the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, after which the village was repopulated by Armenians who fled from different parts of Azerbaijan. Ağbənd () is a town in the Zangilan District of Azerbaijan close to the point at which the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Iran form a politically sensitive junction. Mincivan () is a town in the Zangilan District of Azerbaijan. History Mincivan was part of the Zangezur Uyezd of the Elisabethpol Governorate in the Russian Empire. Sadarak (town)
Sadarak ( az, Sədərək) is a town and the most populous municipality in the Sadarak District of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. It is located to the north-east of the district center, on the Sadarak plain. Its population is engaged in grain-growing, vine-growing and animal husbandry. There are wine processing plants, a branch of the garment factory of Nakhchivan, two secondary schools, a primary school, kindergartens, technical creativity centre, cultural house, club, library, children's music school, hospital, sanitary-epidemiological station, television transmitter and three mosques in the town.
