European Commission Representation In Ireland
The European Commission Representation in Ireland is part of the Commission’s network of representative offices throughout the Member States of the European Union. It is the Commission’s voice in Ireland and aims to communicate EU affairs at both national and local levels. Function The Representation serves as a link between the national government, the public and the European Commission in Brussels. It informs the public and the media about the policies of the Commission and maintains contact with the Oireachtas. At the same time, it informs the Commission's headquarters in Brussels about the political situation in Ireland. Head of Representation The Head of the Representation is Barbara Nolan. A member state is a state that is a member of an international organization or of a federation or confederation. European Commission
The European Commission (EC) is the executive of the European Union (EU). It operates as a cabinet government, with 27 members of the Commission (informally known as "Commissioners") headed by a President. It includes an administrative body of about 32,000 European civil servants. The Commission is divided into departments known as Directorates-General (DGs) that can be likened to departments or ministries each headed by a Director-General who is responsible to a Commissioner. There is one member per member state, but members are bound by their oath of office to represent the general interest of the EU as a whole rather than their home state.
