Euro Car Segment
Excepting those of the Europe-wide safety assessment programme Euro NCAP, vehicle segments in Europe do not have formal characterization or regulations. Although the definition is vague, there is little overlap between segments A–F based on weight and size parameters. [Baidu]

Euro NCAP
The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) is a European voluntary car safety performance assessment programme (i.e. a New Car Assessment Program) based in Leuven (Belgium) formed in 1996, with the first results released in February 1997. It was originally started by the Transport Research Laboratory for the UK Department for Transport, but later backed by several European governments, as well as by the European Union. Their slogan is "For Safer Cars". History and activities Euro NCAP is a voluntary vehicle safety rating system created by the Swedish Road Administration, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile and International Consumer Research & Testing, backed by 14 members, and motoring & consumer organisations in several EU countries. They provide European consumers with information regarding the safety of passenger vehicles. In 1998, operations moved from London to Brussels. It was supported by people like Max Mosley. The programme is modelled after t ...

S-segment
S-segment cars are a European car spotter for ''sport cars''. The cars are often described as sports cars and the equivalent Euro NCAP class is called "roadster sport". Characteristics S-segment cars have a sporting appearance and are usually designed to have superior handling and/or straight-line acceleration compared to other segments. The most common body styles for S-segment cars are coupé and convertible. Rear passenger accommodation is not a priority for S-segment cars, therefore many models are either two-seat cars or have a 2+2 layout with relatively cramped rear seating. Most recent S-segment cars use the commonplace front-engine design (as either an FF layout, FR layout or F4 layout), however the majority of cars with a Mid-engine design or rear-engine design belong to the S-segment. Current models The five highest selling S-segment cars in Europe are the Mazda MX-5, Porsche 911, Ford Mustang and Porsche Boxster/Cayman. File:2016 Mazda MX-5 Sport NAV 1.5 Fro ...

Volkswagen Sharan
The Volkswagen Sharan is a seven-seater minivan that was produced by the German Volkswagen Group and built at the AutoEuropa plant in Palmela, Portugal, with a front-wheel-drive version across two generations, from 1995 to 2022. Through badge engineering, the Volkswagen Sharan shares the same platform with the SEAT Alhambra, and the first generation was also in most respects identical to the Ford Galaxy. From 2010 to 2022 the Sharan was in its second generation. It is described in the motor industry as a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). __TOC__ First generation (''Typ'' 7M; 1995) The Sharan was the Volkswagen-badged product from a joint venture between Volkswagen and Ford Motor Company to produce vehicles in the increasingly important MPV market, which was filled at the time by Renault's Espace and Chrysler's Voyager. The resulting Volkswagen Sharan concept (and Ford Galaxy) was shown at the 1994 Paris Auto Show, and production started in May 1995. The name Sharan was said to be de ...

M-segment
M-segment is the Euro Car Segment, European segments for passenger cars described as "multi purpose vehicles". It covers multi-purpose vehicles, minivans and cargo vans. The minivans (also called MPVs or passenger vans) often have removable rear seating to provide flexibility for transporting passengers or cargo, while the cargo vans (also called light commercial vehicles) are primarily designed for transporting cargo and therefore do not have rear seats. In the recent past, the M-segment was increasing in volume year over year in Europe; in 2015, it is consolidated as the fourth most popular segment (11.5% of the overall market after C-segment, J-segment and B-segment). Multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) Small MPVs As of 2018, the five highest selling small MPVs in Europe were the Fiat 500L, Ford B-Max, Hyundai ix20, Opel/Vauxhall Meriva and Kia Venga. Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler is a series of compact and mid-size four-wheel drive off-road SUVs manufactured by Jeep since 1986 and is currently in its fourth generation. The Wrangler JL, the most recent generation, was revealed in late 2017 and is produced at Jeep's Toledo Complex. The Wrangler is a direct progression from the World War II Jeep, through the CJ (Civilian Jeeps) produced by Willys, Kaiser-Jeep, and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the mid-1940s through the 1980s. Although neither AMC nor Chrysler (after it purchases AMC in 1987) have claimed that the Wrangler was a direct descendant of the original military model — both the CJ Jeeps and the conceptually consistent Wrangler, with their solid axles and open top, have been called the Jeep model as central to Jeep's brand identity as the rear-engine 911 is to Porsche. Similar to the Willys MB and the CJ Jeeps before it, all Wrangler models continue to use a separate body and frame, rigid live axles both front a ...

J-segment
A sport utility vehicle (SUV) is a car classification that combines elements of road-going passenger cars with features from off-road vehicles, such as raised ground clearance and four-wheel drive. There is no commonly agreed-upon definition of an SUV and usage of the term varies between countries. Thus, it is "a loose term that traditionally covers a broad range of vehicles with four-wheel drive." Some definitions claim that an SUV must be built on a light truck chassis; however, broader definitions consider any vehicle with off-road design features to be an SUV. A crossover SUV is often defined as an SUV built with a unibody construction (as with passenger cars), however, the designations are increasingly blurred because of the capabilities of the vehicles, the labelling by marketers, and electrification of new models. The predecessors to SUVs date back to military and low-volume models from the late 1930s, and the four-wheel drive station wagons and carryalls that began ...
