Euro-Trash Girl
"Euro-Trash Girl" is a single by Cracker, released in 1994. The song was originally released on the EP ''Tucson'', and then as an unlisted track (track 69) on the album ''Kerosene Hat''. "River Euphrates" and "Bad Vibes Everybody" were also both originally on the EP ''Tucson''. None of the other tracks on the single appear on any of their full-length albums. The cover of Neil Young's "Fucking Up", the last and only live track on the single, has lead vocals sung by Mark Linkous. It was recorded live at the Metro Chicago, courtesy of WXRT (according to the liner notes on the back of the CD). Cracker is an American rock music, rock band, formed in 1990 by lead singer David Lowery (musician), David Lowery and guitarist Johnny Hickman. WXRT (93.1 FM), also known as XRT and 93-XRT is an adult album alternative (AAA) radio station in Chicago, Illinois. For many years, their slogan has been "Chicago's Finest Rock". "Chicago's Home For Music Lovers" has been used as its slogan since fall 2017. Chicks On Speed
Chicks on Speed is a feminist music and fine art ensemble, formed in Munich in 1997, after members Australian Alex Murray-Leslie and American Melissa Logan met at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Though Chicks on Speed reached cult status throughout the 2000s as catalysts of the musical genre electroclash, the band was founded and more broadly, performed as a multidisciplinary art group working in performance art, electronic dance music, collage graphics, textile design and fashion. David Charles Lowery (born September 10, 1960) is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, mathematician, and activist. He is the founder of alternative rock band Camper Van Beethoven and co-founder of the more-traditional rock band Cracker. Lowery released his first solo album, ''The Palace Guards'', on February 2, 2011, via the 429 Records label. Biography Personal life and music career Lowery was born in San Antonio, Texas, the son of a career Air Force father. He has described his parents as "a hillbilly and an English working-class woman." His family moved around a great deal during his youth before finally settling in Redlands, California, where he attended high school. Metro (formerly the Stages Music Hall and Cabaret Metro) is a concert hall in Chicago, Illinois, United States, that plays host to a variety of local, regional and national emerging bands and musicians. The Metro was first opened in 1982. The capacity is 1,100, divided between the main floor and the balcony. The building housing Metro also houses Smart Bar underneath the main venue. History In the late 1970s, Joe Shanahan, having experienced the art, music and dance culture in New York City, created a club to host creative acts in Chicago. Shanahan was directed to the Northside Auditorium Building. The building was originally built in 1927 as a Swedish Community Center. Kerosene Hat
''Kerosene Hat'' is the second studio album by American rock band Cracker, released on August 24, 1993. It reached #1 on ''Billboards Top Heatseekers chart, and #59 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart. The hit single from the album, "Low," helped Cracker gain widespread notice. According to frontman David Lowery, the album title comes from the band's early days in Richmond, Virginia. Lowery lived with Cracker guitarist Johnny Hickman in an old dilapidated house whose only source of heat came from two kerosene heaters. To buy more kerosene meant a cold walk to a nearby gas station, so before leaving the house, Lowery would bundle up and put on an old wool hunting cap – his "kerosene hat." Mark Linkous (September 9, 1962 – March 6, 2010) was an American singer, songwriter and musician, best known as leader of Sparklehorse. He was also known for his collaborations with such notable artists as Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Daniel Johnston, Radiohead, Black Francis, Julian Casablancas, Nina Persson, David Lynch, Fennesz, Danger Mouse, and Sage Francis.Spinner article:Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse commits suicide" A member of the 1980s indie band the Dancing Hoods, Linkous moved with the group from his native Virginia to New York City and later Los Angeles in hopes of achieving mainstream success.
