Eugenio Fernández Cerra
Eugenio Fernández Cerra (April 19, 1920 – January 28, 2011) was a prominent Chest Physician and former Senator in the Puerto Rico Legislature for the Partido Popular Democratico. Fernández Cerra graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1943 at a very young age (23 years old) and was a Lifetime Contributing Members to the university. He was President of the Medical Association of Puerto Rico and the Asociación de Hospitales de Puerto Rico. Founder of Triple S medical plan and its first chairman of the board. Founder of the Metropolitan Shopping Center, the first mall of Puerto Rico. Was elected in 1959 president of the Puerto Rico Medical Association. Fernández Cerra was also an alternate delegate from the Puerto Rico Delegation to the 1964 Democratic National Convention. Fajardo, Puerto Rico
Fajardo (, ) is a town and municipality -Fajardo Combined Statistical Area. Fajardo is the hub of much of the recreational boating in Puerto Rico and a popular launching port to Culebra, Vieques, and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. It is also home to the largest marina in the Caribbean, called Puerto del Rey. The town contains various hotels and inns. Offshore, near Fajardo, a few islets can be found. These are Icacos, Isla Palomino, Palominito, and Diablo, among other uninhabited coral islands and barrier reefs. Phi Sigma Alpha (), commonly known as La Sigma, is a Puerto Rican fraternities and sororities, Puerto Rican fraternity originally established as the Sigma Delta Alpha Fraternity (Sociedad de Amigos) on October 22, 1928, at the University of Puerto Rico by 12 students and a professor. Phi Sigma Alpha can trace its roots back to 1898 to the Union Hispano Americana, as well as to the first ever Greek letter Hispanic-oriented fraternity, Sigma Iota, established in 1912. 1964 Democratic National Convention
The 1964 Democratic National Convention of the Democratic Party, took place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey from August 24 to 27, 1964. President Lyndon B. Johnson was nominated for a full term. Senator Hubert H. Humphrey of Minnesota was nominated for vice president. The convention took place less than a year after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. On the last day of the convention, Kennedy's brother Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy introduced a short film in honor of his brother's memory.
