Eugene Peter Knudsen
Eugene Peter Knudsen (March 10, 1915 – September 1, 1981) was an American politician and farmer. Knudsen was born in Badger, Kingsbury County, South Dakota. He grew up in Kandiyohi, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota and lived with his wife and family on a farm in Kandiyohi, Minnesota. He went to public school in Kandiyohi, Minnesota. Knudsen was a farmer and raised cattle. He served on the Kandiyohi School Board from 1946 to 1954 and was the chair of the school board. Knudsen served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1955 to 1962 and in the Minnesota Senate from 1963 to 1966. In 1979, he moved to Spicer, Minnesota Spicer is a city in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States situated on Green Lake. The population was 1,167 at the 2010 census. Kingsbury County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,187. Its county seat is De Smet. The county was created in 1873, and was organized in 1880. It was named for brothers George W. and T. A. Kingsbury, descendants of the colonial English Kingsbury family in Boston, Massachusetts. They were prominently involved in the affairs of Dakota Territory and served as elected members of several Territorial Legislatures. Kandiyohi ( ) is a city in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 491 at the 2010 census. History Kandiyohi was laid out in 1869, when the railroad was extended to that point. In 1869 the Minnesota legislature voted Kandiyohi to be the new state capital due to its central location. The bill was vetoed by governor William Rainey Marshall on the grounds that " e western treeless districts" further out from Kandiyohi would place the capital away from the likely population center. Kandiyohi County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, its population is 43,732. As of November 20, 1871, its county seat is Willmar. Kandiyohi County comprises the US Census Bureau's "Willmar, MN Micropolitan Statistical Area". History Kandiyohi County is named for a Dakota word meaning "where the buffalo fish come". (''kandi’'' - the buffalo fish + ''oh-hi’-yu'' - v. of ''hiyu'' - to come through). It was organized on March 20, 1858, with Kandiyohi established as the county seat in 1870 (it was then called Kandiyohi Station, as it was merely a stop on the railroad line).
