Eugene McGinley
Eugene Gregory Bernard McGinley (July 31, 1935 – July 16, 2019) was a politician in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in a 1972 by-election to represent the electoral district of Bathurst and was re-elected in 1974 following which he retired from politics. He was re-elected in 2003 to represent the district of Grand Lake. On February 6, 2007 he was elected speaker of the legislature defeating Tony Huntjens and Wally Stiles on the first ballot. He resigned the speakership on October 31, 2007 to accept an appointment to the cabinet as Minister of State for Seniors and Housing. He was left out of cabinet following a November 2008 cabinet shuffle. McGinley did not reoffer in the 2010 election. McGinley was educated at the University of New Brunswick and in Texas. Brian Andrew Kenny is a politician in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2003 election and re-elected in 2006. Kenny was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, the son of David Kenny. He is a licensed real estate broker. He married Wendy McParland. Mary Schryer was a New Brunswick Liberal Party, Liberal Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in New Brunswick, Canada, representing the constituency of Quispamsis (electoral district), Quispamsis. Queen's Counsel
In the United Kingdom and in some Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth countries, a King's Counsel (Post-nominal letters, post-nominal initials KC) during the reign of a king, or Queen's Counsel (post-nominal initials QC) during the reign of a queen regnant, queen, is a lawyer (usually a barrister or advocate) who is typically a senior trial lawyer. 2010 New Brunswick General Election
The 2010 New Brunswick general election was held on September 27, 2010, to elect 55 members to the 57th New Brunswick Legislative Assembly, the governing house of the province of New Brunswick, Canada. The incumbent Liberal government won 13 seats, while the opposition Progressive Conservatives won a landslide majority of 42 seats in the legislature. As leader of the PC party, David Alward became New Brunswick's 32nd premier. The Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick – acting on the advice of the Premier – would have originally been able to call an election earlier or as late as 2011; however a bill in the 56th Legislature has fixed election dates to the fourth Monday of September every four years beginning with this election. R. Wallis "Wally" Stiles (born October 18, 1950 in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada) is a New Brunswick politician. He represented the electoral district of Petitcodiac in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1999–2010. Tony Huntjens
Antoon J. "Tony" Huntjens (born January 1, 1939, in Limburg, Netherlands) is a former teacher and New Brunswick politician. A resident of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, where he taught High School for thirty-three years, he was a member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick for the riding of Western Charlotte. In the fall of 1961, Huntjens became a Canadian citizen. He studied at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, graduating with a Bachelor of Teaching and a Bachelor of Education degree. He first became active in politics as a member of the Confederation of Regions Party of New Brunswick (CoR) and was the president of that organization and its candidate in Western Charlotte in the 1995 election. The speaker of a deliberative assembly, especially a legislative body, is its presiding officer, or the chair. The title was first used in 1377 in England. Usage The title was first recorded in 1377 to describe the role of Thomas de Hungerford in the Parliament of England.Lee Vol 28, pp. 257,258. The speaker's official role is to moderate debate, make rulings on procedure, announce the results of votes, and the like. The speaker decides who may speak and has the powers to discipline members who break the procedures of the chamber or house.
