Stadler GTW
The Stadler GTW is an articulated railcar for local transport made by Stadler Rail of Switzerland. GTW stands for Gelenktriebwagen (articulated railcar). History The Biel–Täuffelen–Ins-Bahn near Bern, Switzerland was looking for a lighter train model to replace its aging fleet, so that a low floor system does not require heavy installations on the roof. Based on that requirement Stadler came up with a concept of placing most of the equipment in a central unit between the seating cars. While the BTI-Bahn tracks are meter gauge, Stadler presented the first prototype in 1995 set on standard gauge rails, and the Mittelthurgau-Bahn tested three prototypes on its standard gauge network during 1996. The rolling stock for Mittelthurgau was later expanded to 10 GTW 2/6 (built 1998–1999) that are now part of the THURBO fleet (the three prototypes were sold to Italy). Winterthur–Romanshorn Railway
The Winterthur–Romanshorn railway, also known in German as the ''Thurtallinie'' ("Thur valley line"), is a Swiss railway line and was built as part of the railway between Zürich and Lake Constance (Bodensee). It connects Winterthur with Romanshorn, where it formerly connected to train ferries over Lake Constance. It is the fourth oldest internal railway in Switzerland. Its construction was to be funded by the Zürich-Lake Constance Railway (''Zürich-Bodenseebahn''), but during the construction the company was merged with the Swiss Northern Railway (''Schweizerische Nordbahn'') to form the Swiss Northeastern Railway (''Schweizerische Nordostbahn'', NOB). The Winterthur–Romanshorn railway was opened on 16 May 1855 and the line from Winterthur to Oerlikon was opened on 27 December 1855. Romanshorn Railway Station
Romanshorn railway station (german: Bahnhof Romanshorn) is a railway station that serves the municipality of Romanshorn, in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. Opened in 1855, the station is owned and operated by SBB-CFF-FFS. It forms the junction between the Winterthur–Romanshorn railway, the Schaffhausen–Rorschach railway and the Romanshorn–Nesslau Neu St. Johann railway. The SBB-CFF-FFS and THURBO operate both long-distance and local traffic to and from the station. These include four St. Gallen S-Bahn lines and an InterCity train to Brig. Bottighofen
Bottighofen is a municipality in the district of Kreuzlingen in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. History There was a small, prehistoric lake-front settlement near the village. The modern village of Bottighofen is first mentioned in 830 as ''Pottinchovum''. The main landlord for the village, was the monastery of Münsterlingen, from the High Middle Ages until the 19th Century. Until 1798, it belonged to the bailiwick of Eggen. Bottighofen was part of the parish of Münsterlingen, which was restored after the resumption of monastic life in 1549/51. In 1594 the majority Reformed residents were assigned to the parish of Scherzingen. In the 19th Century, the main businesses were in milling, farming and viticulture as well as some timber trade. Tägermoos
The Tägermoos is an area of 1.54 km2 (380 acres) in Thurgau, Switzerland, wedged between the outskirts of the German city of Constance and the core village of the Swiss municipality of Tägerwilen. It lies on the south bank of the Seerhein. In the east, it borders the district Paradies of Constance. In the south-east, it borders the district Emmishofen of the municipality of Kreuzlingen. The remarkable status of Tägermoos was fixed in 1831 by a treaty which is still in force today. Under this treaty, the area is part of Switzerland at the state level and part of the Swiss municipality of Tägerwilen.
