Ettela'at Newspaper
''Ettela'at'' ( fa, اطلاعات, Ettelâ'ât, ) is a Persian language daily newspaper of record published in Iran. It is among the oldest publications in the country, and the oldest running Persian daily newspaper in the world. The paper has a conservative stance and focuses on political, cultural, social and economic news. Until the revolution of 1979, the newspaper was associated with its chief founder Abbas Massoudi (1895-1974). History and profile ''Ettala'at'' was started by Abbas Massoudi in 1926 as a four-page paper and sold nearly 2,000 copies per week. The circulation of the paper was 15,000 copies during the reign of Reza Shah. At the beginning of World War II. the paper was expanded and had eight pages. Abbas Salehi
Seyyed Abbas Salehi ( fa, سید عباس صالحی) is an Iranian scholar, journalist and former Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance from 2017 to 2021. He was vice-minister from 2013 until 2017 which also served as acting Minister of Culture from 19 October until 1 November 2016. On 20 August 2017, he was confirmed as culture minister in the second administration of Rouhani. Ayatollah ( ; fa, آیتالله, āyatollāh) is an Title of honor, honorific title for high-ranking Twelver Shia clergy in Iran and Iraq that came into widespread usage in the 20th century. Etymology The title is originally derived from Arabic word pre-modified with the definite article and Grammatical modifier#Premodifiers and postmodifiers, post-modified with the word ''Allah'', making ( ar, آية الله). "The Shah Is Gone" ( fa, شاه رفت, Šâh raft) is a headline that appeared on the front cover of the Iranian newspaper ''Ettela'at'' on Tuesday, 16 January 1979, when the Shah left Iran, a few days before the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty and the 2500-year-old Iranian monarchy. List Of Newspapers In Iran
The first Iranian newspapers appeared in the mid-19th century during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah. More specifically, the first newspaper in Iran, Kaghaz-e Akhbar (The Newspaper), was launched for the government by Mirza Saleh Shirazi in 1837. By 1907 (the era of the Persian Constitutional Revolution), there were 90 newspapers circulating in Iran. In 1952 under Mohammad Musaddiq's government there were 300 newspapers, including twenty-five dailies. During the 1979 revolution the number of newspapers was 100, of which twenty-three were dailies. As of 2000 there were 23 Persian dailies, three English dailies and one Arabic daily in the country. In the period between 2000 and 2004 a total of 85 newspapers were closed down in Iran. Jahangir Razmi ( fa, جهانگیر رزمی) (b. December 16, 1947 in Arak, Iran) is an Iranian photographer and the author of the entry that won the 1980 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography. His photograph, ''Firing Squad in Iran'', was taken on August 27, 1979 and published anonymously in the Iranian daily ''Ettela'at'', the oldest still running newspaper in Iran. Days later, it appeared on the front pages of numerous newspapers around the world. The photograph was the only anonymous winner of a Pulitzer Prize in the 90-year history of the award, as the identity of Razmi as the photographer was not revealed until 2006. ''Jomhouri-e Eslami'' ( fa, جمهوری اسلامی) is an official Iranian newspaper, which started its work on 30 May 1979, as the newspaper of Islamic Republic Party. In the beginning it was under the grantee of Islamic Republic Party and its managing director was Ali Khamenei. Mir-Hossein Mousavi was its editor-in-chief.
