Ethnikos Water Polo
Ethnikos Piraeus Water Polo Club is the water polo team of Ethnikos OFPF (meaning: ''National Club of Fans of Piraeus and Phalerum,'' in Greek: ''Εθνικός Όμιλος Φιλάθλων Πειραιώς Φαλήρου''). Ethnikos is one of the most successful and traditional water polo clubs in Greece. They have won a record 38 Greek water polo championships and 12 Greek water polo cups (eight of them are consecutive, which is a record) with 9 Doubles. Ethnikos has the record of 9 unbeaten doubles as well as the record for consecutive unbeaten doubles with 8. They hold the unique record of winning 18 championships in a row (from 1953 to 1970) and the second most with 14 in a row (from 1972 to 1985). Ethnikos holds the unique record for the most unbeaten championships with 29 (from which 11 are consecutive, which is also a record) and the record for consecutive years staying unbeaten in a match (13 years, from 1951 to 1964). Greece Men's National Water Polo Team
The Greece men's national water polo team represents Greece in international men's water polo competitions and it is organized and run by the Hellenic Swimming Federation. Greece has a long tradition of strong presence at international level, with their major successes being the two bronze medals won at the World Championship in 2005 and 2015. The Greeks have also won a silver medal at the World Cup in 1997, three bronze medals at the World League in 2004, 2006 and 2016, as well as one silver (2018) and four bronze medals (1951, 1991, 1993, 2013) at the Mediterranean Games. Moreover, they have closely missed a medal in the 2016 European Championship, the 2004 Olympic Games, the 2003 World Championship and the 1999 European Championship, ending up in the 4th place in all four of them. Theodoros Kalakonas
Theodoros "Thodoris" Kalakonas (born 28 October 1974) is a Greek water polo player who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics (6th place), and in the 2004 Summer Olympics (4th place) with the Greece men's national water polo team. He was part of the national squad that won the silver medal at the 1997 World Cup in Athens and the Bronze Medal in the 2004 World League in Long Beach. At club level, Kalakonas played most notably for Piraeus giants Ethnikos (1990–2001, 2006–2008) and powerhouse Olympiacos (2001–2004), with whom he won 1 LEN Champions League, 1 LEN Super Cup, 3 Greek Championships and 3 Greek Cups. Epaminondas Samartzidis
Epaminondas Samartzidis (9 September 1965 – 22 June 1996) was a Greece, Greek water polo player who competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics and in the 1992 Summer Olympics. He had 319 appearances for the Greece men's national water polo team. He started his career in Aris Thessaloniki. In 1985 final for the Greek Cup, Aris lost the final 8-7, but Samartzidis was the best player. The next season got transferred to powerhouse Ethnikos Piraeus where he won two championships (1988, 1994) and one Greek cup (1988). He had five gold medals in swimming (freestyle).
