Ethnikos Piraeus F.C.
Ethnikos Piraeus 1923 Football Club ( el, Εθνικός Πειραιώς 1923) is a Greek football club based in Piraeus and its parent sports club is Ethnikos OFPF. The club was officially formed in 1923 as ''Keravnos'' ( en, Lightning), but existed since 1922. One year later the club was renamed to ''Young Boys Titan'', after some players' secession that formed ''Peiraikos Podosfairikos Omilos'' ( en, Piraeus' Football Group). The club was renamed to ''Ethnikos'' ( en, National) on 23 December 1924, after it merged with ''Peiraikos Podosfairikos Omilos''. Ethnikos Piraeus was one of the founding members of Hellenic Football Federation in 1926, and represented Piraeus to the finals of the Panhellenic Championship's inaugural season in 1927–28. Perama ( el, Πέραμα) is a suburb of Piraeus. It is part of Athens urban area and belogs to the Piraeus regional unit. It lies on the southwest edge of the Aegaleo mountains, on the Saronic Gulf coast. It is 8 km northwest of Piraeus, and 14 km west of Athens city centre. The municipality has an area of 14.729 km2. Giannis Andrianopoulos ( Greek: Γιάννης Ανδριανόπουλος; 1900 – 6 November 1952) was a Greek footballer and one of the founding members of Greece's most successful football club, Olympiacos CFP. Club career Born in Piraeus, Greece, Andrianopoulos began his career at the age of 18, playing for home town club Peiraikos Syndesmos FC. Here Yiannis earned his first taste of success, winning an unofficial Greek Championship in 1923. The Balkans Cup was an international football competition for clubs from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, and Yugoslavia. It was introduced in 1961 and was very popular in the 1960s (the 1967 final attracted 42,000 spectators), being the second most important international club competition for clubs from the region (after the European Champions' Cup in which the champions could play; the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup originally attracted few teams from the region as many did not organise domestic cups regularly and only Yugoslavia had significant representation in the Fairs Cup).
