Ethir Paradhathu
''Edhir Paradhathu'' () is a 1954 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Ch. Narayana Moorthy and written by C. V. Sridhar. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan and Padmini, with V. Nagayya, S. V. Sahasranamam, S. Varalakshmi and Friends Ramasamy in supporting roles. It was remade in Malayalam as ''Nithyakanyaka'' (1963), in Telugu as ''Ilavelpu'' (1956) and in Hindi as '' Sharada'' (1957). Plot Dhayaparar is a widower whose only son Sundar studies in a college at Tiruchy. Sundar is a tenant in a house in which Sumathi lives with her father. They both start liking each other and Sumathi's father agrees to their marriage. Sumathi's elder brother Doctor Gopu lives in Bangalore and is addicted to racing. Chitrapu Narayana Rao
Chitrapu Narayana Rao (born Chithrapu Narayana Murthy; 1913) was an Indian film director and producer known for his works in Telugu and Tamil cinema. He received a Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Tamil Film for ''Edhir Paradhathu'' (1958) and ''Annaiyin Aanai'' (1962). He also won the Nandi Award for the 1967 Telugu film '' Bhakta Prahlada''. Personal life He was born at Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh in 1913. Film director, Chitrapu Narasimha Rao, was his brother. He lost his son in 1962. He died in the year 1985. The 2nd National Film Awards, then known as State Awards for Films, presented by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India to felicitate the best of Indian Cinema released in the year 1954. Ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 21 December 1955 and awards were given by then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
