Amharic ( or ; (Amharic: ), ', ) is an Ethiopian Semitic language, which is a subgrouping within the Semitic branch of the Afroasiatic languages. It is spoken as a first language by the Amharas, and also serves as a lingua franca for all other populations residing in major cities and towns of Ethiopia. Capacity building (or capacity development, capacity strengthening) is the improvement in an individual's or organization's facility (or capability) "to produce, perform or deploy". Alemayehu Atomsa
Alemayehu Atomsa ( om, Alamaayyoo Atoomsaa; am, አለማየው አቶምሳ; 12 February 1969 – 6 March 2014) was an Ethiopian politician who served as the president of the Oromia Region, the largest of the country's regions, from 2010 until his resignation due to illness in 2014, from which he died in Bangkok, Thailand, on 6 March 2014. Early life and career Alemayehu was born on 12 February 1969 in the village of Sere in Welega Province, now in Bonaya Boshe District in the Misraq Welega Zone of the Oromia Region. Alemayehu attended school close to his home district at Gubo Leyo Primary School and Siri Secondary School. Demitu Hambisa Bonsa, in Amharic: ደሚቱ ሃምቢሳ is an Ethiopian politician, who has held several ministerial posts under Prime Ministers Hailemariam Desalegn and Abiy Ahmed, including the Minister for Gender, Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Minister for Science and Research. Biography Hambisa grew up in the state of Oromia and belongs to the Oromo ethnic group. After completing school, she studied law at the Ethiopian Civil Service University, followed by a Masters in Leadership from the University of Greenwich. After completing her academic training, Hambisa worked as a teacher at a secondary school from 1975 to 1996. Muktar Kedir ( om, Mutaar Kadiir; am, ሙክታር ከድር) is an Ethiopian politician who was President of the Oromia Region, the country's largest region, from 18 February 2014 to 20 September 2016. Ambachew Mekonnen ( gez, አምባቸው መኮንን; – 22 June 2019) was an Ethiopian politician and economist who served as the president of the Amhara Region of Ethiopia from March to June 2019, when he was assassinated in a coup attempt. Life Ambachew Mekonnen was born in Aketo, Gayint, South Gondar, to a family of farmers. His secondary education was interrupted due to the Ethiopian Civil War, when his school was closed, and he joined the Ethiopian People's Democratic Movement (EPDM, later ANDM) as a guerrilla in 1990.
