In Greek mythology, Eteoneus (Ancient Greek: Ἐτεωνεύς) may refer to various characters: * Eteoneus, son of Boethous, son of Argeius (son of Pelops) and Hegesandre (daughter of King Amyclas). He helped Odysseus in his trials getting back home. In Greek mythology, the suitors of Penelope (also known as the Proci) are one of the main subjects of Homer's ''Odyssey''. Role in the ''Odyssey'' In the ''Odyssey'' Homer describes Odysseus' journey home from Troy. Prior to the Trojan War, Odysseus was King of Homer's Ithaca, Ithaca, a Greek island known for its isolation and rugged terrain. The Achaeans (; grc, Ἀχαιοί ''Akhaioí,'' "the Achaeans" or "of Achaea") is one of the names in Homer which is used to refer to the Greeks collectively. The term "Achaean" is believed to be related to the Hittite term Ahhiyawa and the Egyptian term Ekwesh which appear in texts from the Late Bronze Age and are believed to refer to the Mycenaean civilization or some part of it. In Greek mythology, Eumaeus (; Ancient Greek: Εὔμαιος ''Eumaios'' means 'searching well') was Odysseus' swineherd and friend. His father, Ktesios son of Ormenos was king of an island called Syra (present-day Syros in the Greek islands of the Cyclades), although it has also been suggested that Eumaeus referred to Syracuse, Sicily. Same (; el, Σάμη), also Samos (Σάμος) is an Ancient Greek name of a Homeric island in the Ionian Sea, near Ithaca and Cephalonia. In Homer's ''Odyssey'' Same is described as part of Odysseus's kingdom together with Ithaca, Dulichium, and Zacynthus.
