Mahamba, Swaziland
Mahamba is a town in the Shiselweni district of southern Eswatini. It has a border crossing point towards Piet Retief in South Africa. It is on the MR9 road. The R543 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Vrede with the Mahamba Border Post with Eswatini via Volksrust, Wakkerstroom and Piet Retief. Route Free State Its western terminus is the R34 in Vrede, Free State. It leaves the town to the east, crossing the provincial border into Mpumalanga. Mpumalanga At Volksrust it meets the southern terminus of the R23 before intersecting with the N11 (co-signed for 1.2 kilometres). Leaving the town to the east, it pass through Wakkerstroom, running close to the border with KwaZulu-Natal. After leaving Wakkerstroom, it bends slightly to the north, taking an east-north-easterly direction to Piet Retief, where it meets the co-signed N2 and R33 (co-signed for 600 metres). Bulembu
Bulembu is a small town located in northwestern Hhohho, Eswatini, 10 km west of the town of Piggs Peak and close to the border with South Africa. Located above the Komati Valley in Eswatini's Highveld, Bulembu is named after the siSwati word for a spider's web. The town of Bulembu is privately owned by a not-for-profit, Bulembu Ministries Eswatini. The Bulembu Foundation is based in Vancouver, Canada. Background Between 1939 and 2001, Bulembu operated as a chrysotile (white asbestos) mine. Originally named Havelock Mine, the mine was part of the UK's Turner & Newall Asbestos Group. The mine encountered heavy losses in the late 1980s and subsequently went bankrupt in 1991. The company was liquidated and the assets purchased in 1991 by HVL Asbestos Swd. Ltd. who changed the name of the mine to Bulembu Mine. HVL Asbestos ran the mine until it went into liquidation in 2001. R40 Road (South Africa)
The R40 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects the Eswatini border at Bulembu via Barberton, Nelspruit and Hoedspruit with Phalaborwa. The route spans two provinces and passes through several private game reserves. Route Mpumalanga The R40 has its southern terminus on the Eswatini border at the Bulembu Border Post, with the town of Bulembu on the other side of the border. It begins by heading north through the eastern part of the Songimvelo Game Reserve before entering the Mountainlands Nature Reserve, where it turns to the north-west. The R40 enters the northern outskirts of Barberton, where it reaches a junction with the R38 Road and Sheba Road north of the Barberton CBD.
