Estonian National Road Race Championships
The Estonian National Road Race Championship is a road bicycle race that takes place inside the Estonian National Cycling Championship, and decides the best cyclist in this type of race. The first edition took place in 1994, and was won by Andres Lauk. Jaan Kirsipuu holds the record for the most wins in the men's championship with 5, while Grete Treier holds the record for most wins in the women's championship with 5 wins. The current champions are Mihkel Räim and Aidi Gerde Tuisk. Tanel Kangert
Tanel Kangert (born 11 March 1987) is an Estonian former road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional from 2008 to 2022. Early life Kangert was born in Vändra, Estonia. He attended kindergarten alongside fellow Estonian cyclist Rein Taaramäe. Career Kangert signed his first professional contract with in 2008, after riding with the team as a stagiaire in the 2007 season. In the same year, he finished first in the Estonian National Time Trial Championships. However during 2008 he also suffered from severe pain in both of his knees, requiring surgery to allow them to move more naturally. This forced him to race as an amateur during the 2010 season. In 2011, Kangert signed for the Kazakh team . In 2012, he won the final stage of the Tour de Suisse, beating Jérémy Roy in a sprint after the pair had attacked from a breakaway group earlier in the race. Lauri Aus (4 November 1970 – 20 July 2003) was an Estonian professional cyclist who represented his native country at three consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1992. He was born in Tartu, became a professional in 1995, and rode for several French teams. He was the first Estonian rider to finish the Tour de France in 1997. He also finished in the top 10 of the World Championship in 1997. Lauri Aus died, aged thirty-two, of injuries sustained after being struck by a drunk driver, while training between Aovere and Kallaste in Tartu County. He was married, with two children. Allan Oras (born 20 December 1975) is an Estonian cyclist. He was born in Tartu. In 1994 he graduated from Tartu School of Construction and Light Industry (). He began his cycling career in 1988, coached by Harald Osjamets. From 1991 to 2001 his coach was Rein Pruuli. In 2019 he won the gold medal at the European Mountain Bike Championships in the cross-country marathon. He is multiple-times Estonian champion in different cycling disciplines.
