Esteghlal Jonoub Tehran Sport Club ( fa, باشگاه فرهنگی ورزشی استقلال جنوب تهران), commonly known as Esteghlal Jonoub, isa sports club based in Tehran, Iran. The club is known for their football team. The club was founded in 1990. History Establishment Founded in 1990 by fans of Esteghlal Tehran, Esteghlal Jonoub Tehran SC was officially registered in 2000. Besides football the club also consists of various other departments including athletics, basketball, handball, table tennis, volleyball, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling. League 2 Between 2007 and 2011 Esteghlal Jonoub played in League 2, formerly known as Iran Football's 2nd Division. In 2011 Esteghlal Jonoub were promoted to the Azadegan League. League 3 (Iran)
Iranian football's 3rd division ( fa, ليگ دسته سوم ایران) is the fourth-highest football division overall in the Iranian football league system. Before 2001, the 3rd division league was the third-highest division in Iranian football league system, however, this was changed to fourth-highest division when Iran's football structure officially became professional. The league consists of two stages. In first stage, 65 teams participate in five groups of 13 teams each. The groups are organized in a manner such that teams closer to each other geographically end up in the same group. Because of this the 3rd division can be considered as a regional league. Stage one is played in single round-robin format and this is the only league organised by IRIFF which has no home-and-away format. Azadegan League
The Azadegan League ( fa, ليگ آزادگان, ''Lig-e Âzâdegân''), also known as League 1 ( fa, لیگ یک, ''Lig-e Yek''), is the second highest division of professional football in Iran. It was the top-level football league in Iran from its foundation in 1991 until 2001, when the Persian Gulf Pro League was established. Each year, the top finishing teams in the Azadegan League are promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to League 2. Since 2016, the league comprises 18 teams. The winner and the runner-up of the Azadegan League are automatically promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League. 2013–14 Iran Football's 3rd Division
The article contains information about the 2013–14 Iran 3rd Division football season. This is the 4th rated football league in Iran after the Persian Gulf Cup, Azadegan League, and 2nd Division. The league started from September 2013. In total and in the first round, 60 teams will compete in 5 different groups of 12. From the first round, 10 teams (2 from each group) go through the second round. In the second round 10 teams from 1st round and 14 temas from previous season (8 teams relegated from 2nd division + 1 team relegated from 1st division + 5 top teams from 3rd division) will be divided into 2 groups of 12, where the winner and runner-up of each group will be directly promoted to 2014–15 Iran Football's 2nd Division. Hazfi Cup
Hazfi Cup (Jām-e Hazfi; ) is the Iranian football knockout cup competition, run by the Iranian Football Federation. The Iranian football league was not held during the 1980s, hence the winner of Hazfi Cup represented Iran in the Asian Club Championship. After the revive of the league system, the champion of Iranian league qualified for Asian Club Championship and the winner of Hazfi Cup ran for Asian Cup Winners' Cup. However, the Asian Cup Winners' Cup merged with the Asian Champions Cup in 2002–03 to form the AFC Champions League and Iran had been initially given two (and later four) slots in this competitions. The IRIFF decided to award one of Iran's AFC Champions League spots to the winner of the Hazfi Cup, and since then, the winners of Hazfi Cup have always been allocated a spot in the AFC Champions League.
