Djavan
Djavan Caetano Viana (; born 27 January 1949) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter. Early life and career Djavan was born in Maceió, Brazil to a white father of Dutch descent and a black mother. He later formed the group Luz, Som, Dimensão (LSD – "Light, Sound, Dimension"), playing Beatles' material. In 1973, Djavan moved to Rio de Janeiro and started singing soap opera soundtracks. His first album, ''A Voz, o Violão e a Arte de Djavan'', was recorded in 1976 and included the hit song "Flor de Lis". Stevie Wonder was a guest on the album ''Luz''. In 1999, his album ''Ao Vivo'' sold 1.2 million copies. Cazuza
Agenor de Miranda Araújo Neto, better known as Cazuza (; April 4, 1958 – July 7, 1990), was a Brazilian singer and songwriter, born in Rio de Janeiro. Along with Raul Seixas, Renato Russo and Os Mutantes, Cazuza, both while fronting Barão Vermelho and at solo career, is considered one of the best exponents of Brazilian rock music. In his 9-year career, he sold more than 5 million albums and achieved 11 number one singles and 18 Top 10 singles in Brazil. Roberto Frejat
Roberto Frejat (born May 21, 1962) is a musician, composer, singer and co-founder of the band Barão Vermelho. Frejat, who was born in Rio de Janeiro, is considered one of the most important people in the Brazilian Rock scene. He co-founded the band Barão Vermelho in 1981 playing the guitar and writing songs, then four years later he replaced Cazuza as lead vocalist in the band. He was in Barão Vermelho for 20 years before starting a solo career. He released two solo albums (in 2001 and 2003) before getting back together with Barão Vermelho. In January 2007 he played his last show with Barão Vermelho before they disbanded and is once again pursuing a solo career. Humberto Teixeira
Humberto Cavalcanti de Albuquerque Teixeira (5 January 1915 – 3 October 1979) was a Brazilian lawyer, politician, musician, and composer, mostly known for his partnership with musician Luiz Gonzaga. Together, they wrote one of the most important songs of their era, ''Asa Branca'', in 1947. Teixeira is recognized as a specialist in '' baião'' as well as "master of costumes and popular North-Eastern trends." Teixeira is also noted for writing the musical copyright laws of Brazil. Luiz Gonzaga
Luiz Gonzaga do Nascimento (standard orthography 'Luís'; ; Exu, December 13, 1912 – Recife, August 2, 1989) was a Brazilian singer, songwriter, musician and poet and one of the most influential figures of Brazilian popular music in the twentieth century. He has been credited with having presented the rich universe of Northeastern musical genres to all of Brazil, having popularized the musical genre baião and has been called a "revolutionary" by Antônio Carlos Jobim. According to Caetano Veloso, he was the first significant cultural event with mass appeal in Brazil. Asa Branca
"Asa Branca" is a song written by Luiz Gonzaga and Humberto Teixeira in 1947. The ''asa-branca'' ("white wing") of the title is the picazuro pigeon. With its departure the desolation of the parched ''sertão'' (the arid backcountry) is complete, and the protagonist of the song, unable to make a living, must leave the ''sertão'' and his lady-love Rosinha. The song closes with his promise to return. Renato Teixeira de Oliveira (born May 20, 1945) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter. He is a representative of sertanejo music and folk rock, linked to the ''caipira'' culture and dialect. Teixeira is the author of several hit songs including "Romaria", which was notably covered by Elis Regina in her eponymous 1977 album. Lulu Santos, stage name of Luiz Maurício Pragana dos Santos (born May 4, 1953), is a Brazilian singer and guitarist. Career Lulu was born in Rio de Janeiro. Guilherme Arantes
Guilherme Arantes () is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and pianist. He is Steinway Artist. As a teenager, he was a member of the band Os Polissonantes, which also featured Brazilian actor Kadu Moliterno on bass guitar. In 1969, Arantes started the band Moto Perpétuo with fellow students from USP's architecture course. It was with Moto Perpétuo that Arantes got his first taste of touring and recording in a studio. The band split up in 1974 as Arantes wanted to pursue a more commercial, pop style of music.
