Estadio Universitario Beto Ávila is a stadium in Veracruz, Mexico. It is primarily used for baseball and is home to El Águila de Veracruz of the Mexican League. It previously served as the home stadium for the Rojos del Águila de Veracruz from 1992 to 2017. The stadium has a capacity of 7,319 people. Prior to this stadium they played at the Parque Deportivo Veracruzano. Bobby Ávila
Roberto Francisco Ávila González (April 2, 1924 – October 26, 2004), known as "Beto" in Mexico and as "Bobby" in the United States, was a Mexican professional baseball second baseman. A native of Veracruz, Mexico, Ávila began his career playing for the Puebla Angeles of the Mexican League from 1943 to 1947. He played 10 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians from 1949 to 1958 before dividing the 1959 season between the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, and Milwaukee Braves. Ávila won the 1954 American League batting championship with a .341 batting average. He also received ''The Sporting News'' American League Player of the Year award in 1954 and was named to the American League All-Star team in 1952, 1954, and 1955. The Mexican League (, ) is a professional baseball league based in Mexico and the oldest running professional league in the country. The league has 18 teams organized in two divisions, North and South. Teams play 114 games each season. Five teams in each division advance to a four-round postseason tournament that culminates in the Serie del Rey, a best-of-seven championship series between the two division champions. The Mexican League has two affiliated minor leagues, the Liga Norte de México and Mexican Academy League.
