Estadio Tamaulipas
The Estadio Tamaulipas is a football stadium in the southern portion of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, serving as the home of C.D.S. Tampico Madero It sits across two municipalities, Tampico and Ciudad Madero, and has a capacity of 19,667. The center line of the stadium sits on the municipal boundary. History Construction of the Estadio Tamaulipas began on January 3, 1965, with a groundbreaking ceremony led by Governor Praxedis Balboa. The stadium was designed by Manuel Ortega Barroueta, who was responsible for a number of other stadiums around the country in the late 1960s, including the Estadio León and the original Estadio Corona in Torreón. The first match in the stadium was held on April 3, 1966, between AS Monaco FC and a combined team of players from Tampico and Madero, which at the time had separate squads; Monaco won 2-1, with Francis Blanc scoring the first goal in the Estadio Tamaulipas. Tampico is a city and port in the southeastern part of the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. It is located on the north bank of the Pánuco River, about inland from the Gulf of Mexico, and directly north of the state of Veracruz. CIS National Football Team
The Commonwealth of Independent States national football team (russian: Сборная СНГ по футболу, ''Sbornaya SNG po futbolu'') was a transitional national team of the Football Federation of the Soviet Union in 1992. It was accepted that the team would represent the Commonwealth of Independent States. The CIS team was created to allow the Soviet national team further participation as it had already booked a spot in Euro 1992 through the 1990–91 qualification tournament. The only way to preserve the spot for the post-Soviet team was to take part in the competition as a unified team. Ascenso MX
Ascenso MX was the second tier of professional football in Mexico of the Mexican football league system. The champion of the competition was promoted to Liga MX (top-flight tier). The bottom team was relegated to Liga Premier (the third tier). It was sponsored by BBVA through its Mexican subsidiary BBVA, and was officially known as Ascenso BBVA MX. Formerly known as Primera División A (First Division A) the league rebranded in 2009 its name and competition format to Liga de Ascenso. It was rebranded in 2012 as Ascenso MX. Estadio Corona (1970)
The Corona Stadium (the name comes from the beer brand) was one of the smallest football stadiums in Mexico having only capacity for 20,100 seats. It was located in the city of Torreón, Coahuila. This sport facility was used mostly for football games and was the home of the club Santos Laguna. This stadium did not host any FIFA World Cup games because of its limited size and facilities. In 2004 this stadium hosted several games of the Copa Libertadores. The stadium was demolished on 2 November 2009.
