Estadio Station
Estadio is the fourth station on line B of the Medellín Metro from the center going west. It is an elevated station named after the nearby Atanasio Girardot Sports Complex, which is the main area for sports activities in the Medellin Metropolitan Area. The sports complex hosted the 2010 South American Games and is where the two biggest football clubs in Medellín play, Atlético Nacional and Independiente Medellín. Located nearby are the headquarters for the daily newspaper '' El Mundo'', the Pontifical Bolivarian and Luis Amigó Catholic universities, as well as the Unicentro shopping mall. Medellín
Medellín ( or ), officially the Municipality of Medellín ( es, Municipio de Medellín), is the second-largest city in Colombia, after Bogotá, and the capital of the department of Antioquia. The Medellín Metro (Spanish: ''Metro de Medellín'') is a rapid transit system that crosses the Metropolitan Area of Medellín from North to South and from Centre to West. It first opened for service on 30 November 1995. As one of the first implementations of modern mass transportation in Colombia and the only metro system in the country, the Medellín Metro is a product of the urban planning of the Antioquia department of Colombia. Atanasio Girardot Sports Complex (officially ''Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot'') is a sports complex located in Medellín, Colombia. The complex includes Estadio Atanasio Girardot, Medellín Sports Coliseum, Luis Alberto Villegas Stadium, and Alfonso Galvis Duque Stadium. San Javier Station
San Javier is the seventh and final station on line B of the Medellín Metro, and a transfer station to line J. It is the most western station and is the only station on line B that is not elevated. The station was opened on 28 February 1996 as part of the inaugural section of line B, from San Javier to San Antonio.
