Estadio Bellavista
Estadio Bellavista is a multi-use stadium in Ambato, Ecuador. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Mushuc Runa, Macará, and Técnico Universitario. The stadium holds 16,467 spectators and is located on Bolivariana Avenue, a main thoroughfare through the city of Ambato. History The stadium was built in 1945 and inaugurated in July of the same year. The stadium was damaged by the earthquake that hit Ambato on August 5, 1949. Ambato, Ecuador
Ambato (; full form, San Juan de Ambato; Quechuan languages, Quechua: Ampatu Llaqta) is a city located in the central Andes, Andean valley of Ecuador. Lying on the banks of the Ambato River (Ecuador), Ambato River, the city also sits beneath several tall mountains. It is the Tungurahua province capital city Tungurahua Province, Tungurahua, at an elevation of 2,577 meters above sea level. 1949 Ambato Earthquake
The 1949 Ambato earthquake was the deadliest earthquake in the Western Hemisphere in five years. On August 5, 1949, it struck Ecuador's Tungurahua Province southeast of its capital Ambato and killed 5,050 people. Measuring 6.4 on the scale, it originated from a hypocenter 15 km beneath the surface. The nearby villages of Guano, Patate, Pelileo, and Pillaro were destroyed, and the city of Ambato suffered heavy damage. The earthquake flattened buildings and subsequent landslides caused damage throughout the Tungurahua, Chimborazo, and Cotopaxi Provinces. It disrupted water mains and communication lines and opened a fissure into which the small town of Libertad sank. Moderate shaking from the event extended as far away as Quito and Guayaquil. The United States men's national soccer team (USMNT) represents the United States in men's international soccer competitions.
