Estación Talca, is a railway station of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado, located in Talca, Chile. It is the main railway station in the Maule Region. It is located on 11 Oriente avenue. Estación Talca is part of the Red Sur EFE, the TerraSur and the ''Expreso Maule'' inter-city services have a stop here. Since 1915 the Ramal Constitución diverge from here, (with 2 trains daily on each direction), to the seaside city of Constitución. The nearby Talca Bus Terminal is within walking distance from the Station. Talca, Chile
Talca () is a city and commune in Chile located about south of Santiago, and is the capital of both Talca Province and Maule Region (7th Region of Chile). As of the 2012 census, the city had a population of 201,142. The city is an important economic center, with agricultural (wheat) and manufacturing activities, as well as wine production. It is also the location of the Universidad de Talca and the Catholic University of Maule, among others. The Catholic Church of Talca has held a prominent role in the history of Chile. The inhabitants of Talca have a saying, ''Talca, Paris & London'', born from a hat shop which had placed a ribbon stating that it had branches in Paris and London. The shop was owned by a French immigrant named Jean-Pierre Lagarde. Empresa De Los Ferrocarriles Del Estado
Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (abbreviated EFE, lit. ''State Railway Company'') is the national railway and the oldest state-run enterprise in Chile. It manages the infrastructure and operating rail services in the country. Track gauge The track gauge is Indian gauge in the south and in the north. The Santiago Metro uses . History The company was created on January 4, 1884 by means of the purchase of the companies that exploited the longitudinal routes and the Santiago – Valparaíso route. Ramal Talca-Constitución
The Ramal Talca-Constitución, also known as the Ramal de Maule is the last remaining narrow-gauge ''ramal'' ( branch line) in Chile. Its route follows the north bank of the Maule River and crosses the communes of Talca, Maule, Pencahue and Constitución, with Constitución the last station on the line. The route features views of the Andean foothills and the Pacific Ocean. The line can support a speed of 50 miles per hour (80 km/h). The railway is facing closure due to inactivity and an increased preference for private transport. Chile's last passenger metre gauge railway, the ''ramal'' runs through an area not served by other ground transportation. The Banco de Arena Railway Bridge over the Maule River, designed by architect Gustave Eiffel, was built from 1908 and 1915 by Schneider and Company. Maule Region
The Maule Region ( es, Región del Maule, ) is one of Chile's 16 first order administrative divisions. Its capital is Talca. The region derives its name from the Maule River which, running westward from the Andes, bisects the region and spans a basin of about 20,600 km2. The Maule river is of considerable historic interest because, among other reasons, it marked the southern limits of the Inca Empire. Geography and ecology The region covers an area of and is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean; on the east by the Argentina; on the north by the O'Higgins Region, and on the south by the Ñuble Region. There are a number of flora and fauna species present in Maule. TerraSur
TerraSur (previously known as EFE Chillán) is a Chilean Inter-city rail service, opened in 2001 between Santiago and Chillán, on the ''Chilean Central Valley''. It is operated by the ''Trenes Regionales Terra S.A.'', a subsidiary of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE). Covering almost 400 km in less than 5 hours, it is the fastest public transportation between those cities. Currently it is one of the only inter-city services that still operates in the country, (the other intercity rail service is the Alameda-Temuco train, a seasonal train) and is the fastest rail service in South America, with an operational speed reaching 150 km/h. Constitución () is a city and commune of Talca Province, Maule Region, Chile. It was historically a popular seaside resort. However, following the growth of the industrial sector (paper and pulp) tourism has since declined. Constitución is a minor port in Chile. Estación Chillán
Estación Chillán, is a railway station of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado, located in Chillán, Chile. It is the main railway station in the Bío Bío Region. It is located on Brasil avenue. Estación Chillán is part of the Red Sur EFE, the TerraSur inter-city service has its final stop here. Previously the Red Sur EFE continued from here to the south; to the city of Temuco, but the passenger service was definitively closed in 2009. Estación Linares is a railway station of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado, located in Linares, Chile . It is the main railway station in the Linares Province, and is located on Brasil Avenue. Estación Linares is part of the Red Sur EFE, the TerraSur inter-city service has a stop here, and since 2012 the ''Expreso Maule'' has its final stop here.
