Esperanza (Michael Rother Album)
''Esperanza'' is the eighth studio album by the German solo artist Michael Rother. It was released on 11 March 1996. Excepting 1993's compilation album ''Radio'', the studio album was Rother's first since 1987 and his sole full release of material in the 1990s. The album was recorded between January 1995 and January 1996 in Germany at Rother's own studio Random Studio in Forst and Studio B3, Hamburg. Additional recording and digital treatments took place at Alphaton Studio, Wentorf in December 1995 and January 1996. Receiving positive reviews the album was released as an CD and limited edition double LP in 1996 before it was re-released in 2000. The artwork and photography and for the album was designed and shot by Thomas Beckmann. Recording and music ''Esperanza'' was recorded and produced by Rother with only a small amount of assistance. Michael Rother
Michael Rother (born 2 September 1950) is a German experimental musician, best known for being a founding member of the influential bands Neu! and Harmonia (band), Harmonia, and an early member of the band Kraftwerk. Early life and education Born in 1950, Rother was educated in Munich, Wilmslow (England), Karachi, and Düsseldorf. He also resided in Pakistan in the early 1960s where he was exposed to Pakistani music that would influence his own music in the late 1960s and early 1970s. From 1965 Rother played in the band Spirits of Sound, from which other members would later go on to join Kraftwerk (Wolfgang Flür) and Wunderbar. Music career Rother is a multi-instrumentalist (primarily guitar and keyboards) who, along with a catalog of several solo albums starting in 1977, is best known for having co-founded the German group Neu! with drummer Klaus Dinger (five albums between 1971 and 1996), and his collaborative efforts with Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius (a ... ''Radio'' (also known as ''Radio – Musik von Michael Rother – Singles, 1977–1993'') is the first compilation album by the German solo artist Michael Rother. It was released in October 1993. The majority of the compilation is made up of Rother's solo work from his seven studio albums released between 1977 and 1987. Also included are six additional recordings made between 1988 and 1993 at Rother's own studio Random Studio in Forst. Receiving positive reviews the album was released as a CD in October 1993. The album was reissued on CD in 2000. The artwork for the album was designed by Ulrich von Sinnen with photography by Ann Weitz. Releases and music ''Radio'' was first released on Random Records as a CD in October 1993.
