Espanola, Washington
Espanola is an unincorporated community, in Spokane County, Washington, United States. The current name was adopted in the year 1900. As of 2021 the community of Espanola is little more than a handful of buildings and a grain elevator surrounded by farms. History Espanola was the name of one of the 47 townships in Spokane County from the early years of the 20th century through the middle of the century A community of Hutterites moved to the Espanola area in 1960, causing some friction with the residents. The Hutterite community is still active in the area as of 2006, but located a few miles to the north beyond U.S. Route 2 near the community of Deep Creek. State Route 902 (SR 902), also named the Gold Star Memorial Highway, is a state highway located entirely in Spokane County, Washington, United States. It forms a loop that connects Medical Lake and Eastern State Hospital to Interstate 90 (I-90) at both ends. The highway has existed since at least 1931, and before the 1964 state highway renumbering, it was numbered Secondary State Highway 11D. Route description SR 902 forms a loop between two interchanges on I-90, a major freeway between Seattle and Spokane that is concurrent with U.S. Route 395 (US 395) through part of Eastern Washington. Medical Lake, Washington
Medical Lake is a small city in Spokane County, eastern Washington, United States. At the 2010 census, the population was 5,060. The city is the site of a psychiatric hospital, Eastern State Hospital, and of Fairchild Air Force Base, two major employers. History The city of Medical Lake was incorporated in 1890. Lincoln County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, the population was 10,876, making it the fifth-least populous county in the state. Deep Creek is an unincorporated community in Spokane County, Washington. A creek of the same name flows through the community. Deep Creek is located along U.S. Route 2 in a rural area near the Lincoln County line. Geography Deep Creek is located 14 miles west of Downtown Spokane along U.S. Route 2 and two miles northwest of Fairchild Air Force Base.
