Fernand Léger
Joseph Fernand Henri Léger (; February 4, 1881 – August 17, 1955) was a French painting, painter, sculpture, sculptor, and film director, filmmaker. In his early works he created a personal form of cubism (known as "tubism") which he gradually modified into a more Figurative art, figurative, populism, populist style. His boldly simplified treatment of modern subject matter has caused him to be regarded as a forerunner of pop art. Art Sinsabaugh (1924-1983) was an American photographer. Biography Sinsabaugh was born in 1924 in Irvington, New Jersey. From 1949 to 1959 he worked part-time as an instructor at IIT Institute of Design. Sinsabaugh was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois from 1959 until he died in 1983 in Chicago, Illinois. From 1972 to 1973 he worked for the Center for Advanced Studies and University of Illinois where he was an associate member. He was one of the founders of the Society for Photographic Education. In 1966 he was awarded Illinois Arts Council Award and Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts Award. In 1969 he became a fellow in Guggenheim and by 1977 became a fellow at the National Endowment for the Arts Photographers'. Henry Holmes Smith
Henry Holmes Smith (1909, Bloomington, Indiana–1986) was an American photographer and a fine art photography teacher. He was inspired by the work that had been done at the German Bauhaus and in 1937 was invited to teach photography at the New Bauhaus being founded by Moholy-Nagy in Chicago. After World War II, he spent many years teaching at Indiana University. His students included Jerry Uelsmann, Jack Welpott, Robert W. Fichter, Betty Hahn and Jaromir Stephany. Smith was often involved in the cutting edge of photographic techniques: in 1931 he started experimenting with high-speed flash photography of action subjects, and started doing color work in 1936 when few people considered it a serious artistic medium. Joseph Cornell (December 24, 1903 – December 29, 1972) was an American visual artist and film-maker, one of the pioneers and most celebrated exponents of Assemblage (art), assemblage. Stuart Davis (painter)
Stuart Davis (December 7, 1892 – June 24, 1964), was an early American modernist painter. He was well known for his jazz-influenced, proto- pop art paintings of the 1940s and 1950s, bold, brash, and colorful, as well as his Ashcan School pictures in the early years of the 20th century. With the belief that his work could influence the sociopolitical environment of America, Davis' political message was apparent in all of his pieces from the most abstract to the clearest. Contrary to most modernist artists, Davis was aware of his political objectives and allegiances and did not waver in loyalty via artwork during the course of his career.
