Escondido Bible College
Escondido Bible College (EBC) was founded in Escondido, California, in 1983 as Cathedral Bible College by Dr. Coleman and Mary Phillips. And Reverend Dr. George and Jean Simmons. Its name was changed to Escondido Bible College, following the renaming of its patron church, Cathedral of the Valley, to Escondido Christian Center. In the mid-2000s its present name was adopted. EBC is associated with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG). Escondido is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. Located in the North County region, it was incorporated in 1888, and is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County. It has a population of 151,038 as of the 2020 census. Etymology "Escondido" is a Spanish word meaning "hidden". One source says the name originally referred to ''agua escondida'' or hidden water; another says it meant "hidden treasure". The city is known as ''Eskondiid'' in Kumeyaay. History The Escondido area was first settled by the Luiseño, who established campsites and villages along the creek running through the area. They named the place Mixéelum Pompáwvo or "Mehel-om-pom-pavo." The Luiseno also had another village north of Mixéelum Pompáwvo called Panakare. The Foursquare Church is an Evangelical Pentecostal Christian denomination founded in 1923 by preacher Aimee Semple McPherson. The headquarters are in Los Angeles, California, United States. History The church has its origins in a vision of "Foursquare Gospel" (or "Full Gospel") during a sermon in October 1922 in Oakland, California by the evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson.
